KIIS/KGGI San Bernadino

Has it occured to anyone that 102.7 is performing better and better in the IE? Are the promoting or marketing KIIS more in the IE or did the signal improve? Why not simulcast 102.7 on 99.1 and cover more of the entire region!?!?!?!? KGGI and KISS are close but not direct competitors...instead of having 2...why not just 1!

SAY WHAT?

KGGI is not only the top station 12+, 18-34, and 18-49 - it reportedly bills well north of $15 million/year. Why would CC blow up that kind of revenue? KGGI wins because it is programmed to the Inland Empire and serves the local community.

KGGI is different musically than KIIS and serves that market (which is NOT the same as Los Angeles).

On the KOLA front, they had an awful book. KCBS-FM has done well with "Jack" since day one out in the I.E.

KOLA has been playing quite a few 80s titles sharing many with Jack. Methinks that's the wrong direction. KRTH tweaked up slightly in the IE while KOLA tanked. And their respective playlists are becoming more and more different.

As RR said, separate markets, different ethnicity, etc. And advertisers don't generally buy the IE together with LA for radio, although they gladly take the spillage from LA for free.

KOLA had an oddly high book in the spring and a much lower than usual summer.

KRTH did move at all 25-54 in the I.E. - even though KOLA lost almost 50%.

Top 10 25-54 in the I.E. were KSCA, KFRG, KCBS, KGGI, KLYY, KLVE and KFI (tied), KLOS, KIIS, and KOST.

L.A. listening can also depend on diary returns ... depending on the terrain. There are several stations in the I.E. that are terrain shielded and some of the Mt. Wilson sticks do better though. Plus it depends on the number of commuters.
