KIIS music tweak?

I'm hearing Taylor Swift's "Love Story" on KIIS! (Granted, it's the "alt mix," but still!) I've also been hearing Paramore, etc.

They're beginning to sound more like 104.7 Kiss FM here in Phoenix! Except, now 104.7 here has decided to throw in a bunch of older songs from people like Foxy Brown, Eve, Ja Rule and stuff like that.

Is it me or is KIIS playing less rhythmic CHR these days and becoming a more all around CHR station?

Not really.

Here's a mid-day sample hour from today:

2:00 PM NE-YO Miss Independent Def Jam/IDJMG
1:56 PM DANITY KANE Damaged Bad Boy/Atlantic
1:47 PM TAYLOR SWIFT Love Story Big Machine/Uni Republic
1:43 PM KANYE WEST Flashing Lights f/Dwele Roc-A-Fella/Def Jam/IDJMG
1:40 PM LEONA LEWIS Better In Time SYCO/J/RMG
1:30 PM BLACK EYED PEAS Where Is The Love Interscope
1:26 PM T.I. Live Your Life f/Rihanna Grand Hustle/Atlantic
1:23 PM CARRIE UNDERWOOD Before He Cheats 19/Arista
1:19 PM NE-YO Closer Def Jam/IDJMG
1:15 PM USHER Love In This Club f/Y. Jeezy LaFace/Zomba
1:12 PM KATY PERRY Hot N Cold Capitol
1:07 PM KANYE WEST Love Lockdown Roc-A-Fella/IDJMG
1:04 PM SEAN PAUL Temperature Atlantic
1:01 PM BEYONCE Single Ladies (Put A Ring... Music World/Columbia

Other than playing the occasional Country crossover now (they "added" Carrie Underwood's "Before He Cheats" as a recurrent a year after it charted nationally thanks to extremely strong call-out), there is no perceptable difference in what they play now vs a year or two or three ago. You're not going to find the current Jason Mraz, Nickelback, Saving Abel, the Veronicas, the Fray, David Cook, Gavin Rossdale, Hinder or the All-American Rejects songs (all top 30 nationally) there.

I'd say out of those, only the Fray stands a chance of getting an add there at some point (they still play stuff from the last album though it's usually middle of the night) and maybe the Veronicas.

They are playing The Veronica's, Taylor Swift, and some of the other non rhythmic hits here in Phoenix on 104.7 KissFM.... well at least TODAY I've heard quite a bit of alternative. I don't know how long it's going to last before they once again stop and decide to do it all over again in about a month or two, but that's been the case these past few months (or shall I say years?). Last week I remember hearing mostly rhythmic r&b and hip hop hits and maybe one Taylor Swift or an alternative hit thrown in every now and then. There are times when they will go an hour or more without touching alternative, then there are times when Taylor Swift and The Fray might play back to back. They played "better off alone" by Alice DeeJay last week, and they played "one wish" by Ray J today, followed by an alternative song.

101.5 JamZ has been a bit strange lately.... but I'm not complaining, although their choice of songs are a bit odd.

That's KISS in Phoenix... we're talking KIIS in L.A... I think there's a thread for KISS in Phoenix somewhere...

Secondhand Serenade, The Fray, Terror Squad, and The Veronica's all followed shortly after the Taylor Swift. Method Man, KC & JoJo, Panic! @ The Disco, and Chris Brown were some of the things played before. Nickelback, I don't think they play anymore.... at least for now. TI and Kanye are taking over all three of our hit music stations.

101.5 JamZ has been a bit strange lately.... but I'm not complaining, although their choice of songs are a bit odd. I do see them starting to re-add back in more of the hip hop and r&b hits though. For a while the playlist was very limited. All three of our "hit music stations" have been acting a bit weird lately... But 104.7 KissFM is still the one who most appropriately uses "all the hits".

Ok - something strange happened to my post here.... but yeah, sometimes it's good to post on a similar station in another state so people can compare what's going on in their city with another city that's doing even stranger things with their radio stations. However, no one has opened up a thread for our KISS, most likely because... well I'm guessing it's because we're already used to odd things happening. What KIIS in LA is doing has pretty much been done here quite a few times already. I'm just waiting to see if there will be more house or dance played again on Club KISS tonight.

Nobody is stopping you from doing it yourself :p

Yeah... I was going to say that. At last check, we do still have a Phoenix forum, even though the Suns have been eclipsed these days by the Lakers. ;)

Uh oh! uh oh! I see trash talk about the suns! I would say something back, but that will take away from the time I have to open up a Kiss forum in the Phoenix section.. Besides, the Cardinals won, so I'm content.
