KIKO-FM Claypool/Globe now audible in East Valley

While scanning the dial yesterday, I ran into a pop song on 97.3 FM. After listening a little longer, I heard the sweeper "KIKO 106." It appears that KIKO-FM has made the move to 97.3 FM at (an equivalent of) 50,000 watts from a peak outside of Globe. They are still running what sounds like Dial Global's "Hot AC" format.

Last I remember, they were running Soft A/C as Mix 106. However, I'd bet there is a format change in the near future. I'm gonna take a drive today where I can get the signal. Thanks.

Claypool. The next Buckeye!

Did you get my Media Hut franchise application? Claypool is really going places and I want to be a part of the action!! I'm taking my Mr. Microphone up to do a remote at the Safeway off US 60, just the other side of tailing pond number 3. As soon as I find a vacant/open signal to use, I will post a sign to let people know which station to tune in to for the live broadcast. I'll be giving away colon blow, Russell Shaw fridge magnets and a free beeper. For one lucky listener, I'll be giving away an 8-track player and a collection of Carpenters 8-track tapes!!! ;D

KHOS--don't forget to set up the Giant Fez at your remote.

BTW, the Wonderful Russ fooderator magnets are real neat. You'll want to collect
all three in the set, as each has a different catch phrase:

"In only 53 days."

"Fiiirrrre meee!"

"Thank you."

You forgot "Mind you, I'm applying for a job.". ;D

 The old Mr. Microphone trick, eh? That technique is highly secret and subversive!

1TV.com is everywhere: Claypool...Globe...Apache Junction...Fort McDowell. The Buckeye Boyz say it's time someone gives Clear Channel a run for the money in Pinal county!

Thanks for correcting me, it is still mainstream AC (off the bird from Dial Global). The signal is spotty in places, but for the most part, available in the EV. There is some bleed from KIKO-AM that could be heard in the signal (STL issue?), but I'll give them a pass on that given their small-town status.

The bird feed apparently doesn't time exactly to the TOH, as the song went to
approx. 5:00:40, then the legal ID--which was done as:

"KIKO-FM 97.3 Claypool Arizona"

Come on guys, you know it's supposed to be "...Claypool/Globe/Miami."
Gotta include those big cities too! ;)

Let us not forget this is the son of KIKO-FM. Willard Shoecraft (RIP) sold the original at 100.3 with 15K ERP from the top of Pinal Mtn to an outfit that moved the stick down the mountain to a level where they could get a 30K ERP from a site with no commercial power (brilliant) and a studio in an Apache Jct strip center (convenient). That stick ended up in the Resource Media jumble out on the west side and went from KZRX (Z-Rock) to KHOT (Carla Foxx's hot talk station) to an original KEDJ simulcast to Spanish.

Actually, the studios were in Mesa in a strip center off of Country Club just north of the 60. Right across the street from Sunsplash. Call letters KEYX, then KGRX, then KZRX, etc.
