KILE 1560

I was scanning the AM dial recently and I noticed the signal on 1560 being much stronger up here in Atascocita. Sounds like they might be on their new 50K transmitter. Can anyone confirm this?

According to Radio-Locator (which has a few faults), KILE is 800 watts... and doesn't have a CP to go to 50kw.

Postings on this board and elsewhere a few months ago stated that KILE had installed a 50kw transmitter and had tested it on a few occasions. It was heard blasting in to northern Illinois and other midwestern locations around twilight, according to reports. Apparently there were technical issues that had to be resolved...and we haven't heard anything since about the upgrade.

I have checked KILE on a couple of occasions, and they always seem staticy in The Heights and non-existant in the Woodlands. They might have been testing the 50kw, but I have read that they missed an FCC deadline and are no longer able to upgrade. Mike O would be the one to consult on KILE. That man knows the scoop.<P ID="signature">______________

Well since you want details, let me pass these along:

KILE original CP issued in 2002 has likely expired...BUT they have filed several applications..one was 100watt nighttime at new site..OMNI directional I might add....filed in 2005..location is SE corner of the intersection of Loop610 and US 59 NE of Bellaire...

Also on Jan18th this year, they have refiled a 50KW app..at the same site BUT with different tower heights and phase angles...so the pattern must be slightly different..ALSO they filed on Feb 1st for 1KW NIGHTTIME from a NEW 6 tower site NW of Hwy 6 and I10 (looks to be west of the West Houston airport)..

Thats what the FCC web site shows so far...
