KILLED-BORN FILE?

It seems that Craig Kilborn's six week trial of his "dinner time" talk show has ended and FOX has decided to stop producing episodes of the Kilborn File.

B&C reported that the show was "down 53% from the show's 1.9/4 average lead-in and 47% compared to last summer's 1.7/4 average in the time slots"

In addition...

The show's website has no future guests.
Tickets are no longer available for any upcoming shows.
TV Guide shows that 6:30 PM on FOX 11 here in LA is TBA.

Too bad to see Craig go, I kinda liked his show, just that all his guests were nobodys

Wow... Unbelievable... TV Guide still carries local listings?

Well that was short and sweet. Well...maybe not so sweet. I'll just stick with "short". I never cared for him. His sense of humor and his delivery style are just way to dry. It's as if there is no emotion in anything that he says. He didn't get the greatest time slot either. He got stuck with dinner time. It looks like most people chose to EAT.

Bet they're really sorry they didn't come to terms with Conan now.

For a syndicated talk show that had no unified timeslot? Please--Conan O'Brien wouldn't have signed up for that. This Kilborn show was not demonstrably destined to be a late night show, anyway.

He's really not a spectacular host. He's pretty unexciting. He should have kept the late night gig he had. CBS seemed satisfied. Now what does he do?

That Craig Ferguson is a godsend for CBS' late night fortunes - a possible heir apparent to Letterman's desk, no doubt...

Fox does this sort of test run from time to time. Wendy Williams was done the same way. It lasted 6 weeks on a handful of stations, went away for a year and a half, then came back as a permanent show nationwide.

At the time the Williams show ended its initial 6 week run, I didn't think it would ever come back. However, something about the ratings or audience testing told Fox they should bring it back. It seems to have worked out okay for them.

There's no telling what will happen with Kilborne. Fox is also doing a similar test with Mike Huckabee in a few markets. It's had miserable ratings and I really can't imagine it ever coming back.

Ferguson has gone on record saying when Dave walks, so does he. He doesn't want to be the heir apparent. He likes the freedom the 12:30 slot allows him. 11:30 is too structured and Craig is too off the wall for the earlier crowd. Ultimately, Craig wants to tour his stand-up, write books and screenplays and produce television shows.

Good riddance... after six weeks I couldn't even get a good laugh from this guy.

CBS will most likely plead, beg and do whatever is possible for Craig not to leave at the same time as Dave. That would really screw up their late night scheduling. Starting 2 shows with new hosts!?!? Holy crap. They should want some sort of seque from Dave to Jon Stewart and then give that some time and then let Craig leave for the new host, Tom Green.
