Killeen and Waco

I was visiting Waco and Central TX this past weekend and I have to give some props.

104.9 The Beat in Waco is sounding really good like a true urban and not so cookie cutter. They do a nice job with the Quiet Storm and especially a Sunday afternoon Old School Jams show which is locally programmed. Nice to see Waco with some real urban radio.

Urban AC 103.1 Kiss FM Killeen has an old school show Sunday afternoons 3-7 PM, this show goes much deeper into the 60s, early 70s and blues than most of today's urban ACs do. Very good show.

The "Time Tunnel" and the gospel music which comes on 103.1 on Sundays is really the only thing worth listening to on that radio station. The other times on 103.1 is pretty much boring and typical at best. Tom Joyner in the mornings and Keith Sweat at nights. They only play the new adult R&B at its minimal while playing the same old "gold" songs like "Word Up", "You Give Good Love", "Happy", and "Secret Lovers" at its maximum. I have noticed they are finally adding "some" Old School favorites like "Turn Your Love Around" by George Benson, "Jack and Jill" and "A Woman Needs Love" by Ray Parker, Jr. and Raydio and "Roses are Red" by The Mac Brothers. But other than that, 103.1 Kiss FM is a boring Urban AC radio station.

Would not disagree with your comments but the Time Tunnel is excellent.

True on 103.1 buts its the only true R&B station we have in Central Texas. Unless one wants to count the two hiphop stations in the area. Also 103.1 is the number one most listened too station in the Central Texas area............we are talking about 'Texas' here. Its a shame they couldn't boost the signal so that Austin and Waco could hear the signal.

With the state of true R&B being harder to find on the radio these days, I am happy with 103.1.
