Killeen/Temple Cumulus stations sold

From Radio-Info:
Townsquare Media is acquiring the Cumulus clusters in these 11 markets: Augusta-Waterville (Maine), Bangor, Binghamton, Bismarck, Grand Junction, Killeen-Temple, New Bedford, Odessa-Midland, Presque Isle, Sioux Falls and Tuscaloosa. Cumulus gains the Townsquare Media clusters in Bloomington, Illinois and Peoria, and there's $116 million in cash involved, as well.

Will it matter, will anything change?

Well, the programming staff won't be working with Cumulus brand managers much longer. In that sense, there's going to be a change. I don't know that it will matter much in terms of the quality, and I can't imagine the ex-Cumulus stations will get better support under Townsquare than they've been getting. After all, Cumulus already gut many of those stations and has still made money off of them. If you're just managing from the numbers, that doesn't give you any incentive to throw more money in their direction.

I bet they flip formats on 101.7 and 106.3. KLTD has a good signal with no ratings. KOOC has decent ratings, but supposedly airs a bunch of bonus spots for the the 2 FMs that make money (Country US105 and Urban AC KISS 103). As for the new formats? My guess is CHR and Adult Hits.

townsquare media are good broadcasters and nice people to deal with. If I were a Cumulus station that was going to them I would get down on my knees and thank God that the stations were bought by Townsquare.

I've never thought these stations were programmed well. Minimal staffs, frequent turnover, automation without even trying to voicetrack from the times I've heard them. No marketing or promotion. Killeen used to be a really good radio town, plenty of G.I.s with money to spend every 2 weeks. A little promotion would go a long way. I know for a fact that 103.1 KSSM makes a fraction of the amount of money it did when it was country, and that is one of the cluster's more successful stations.
