KILT HD-2

DAING! I may just have to drive to the small hill I know of in College Station just to check it out. Texas Country is great at KKBQ, so I hope KILT has something good up its sleves.

I checked it out over the weekend, it sounds good. Wish Cox would do something with HD-2 in San antonio.

Hey guys,

I have kind of a serious question here. I have won a number of points in a contest and I can trade em in on a Sony or Sangean desktop HD Radio or I can get a Kitchenaid Mixer. Is there really enough reason to get the HD Radio? And which brand is better? The Sony is a XDR-S3HD and the Sangean is an HDR-1. I'm kinda partial to the Sony myself. If this is terribly off topic, I apologize, but y'all seem to know something about HD. So I thought I'd ask. Thanks!!

Well if you like FREE radio, more choices, I would go with HD I'm not sure on the Sony how well it is. You might would google it and see if you can find some reviews on it. I also have the Sangean, it works well after I got the kinks out. HD Radio has a lot more choices out than it did. I almost think mine is working better than my XM did out there in Lavaca county... I had a Sirius receiver I couldn't even get the signal. XM was 1-2 bars by my window.

Col,

Stick with the mixer. It creates less noise in the analog signal.

Col.

If you go with HD (Hybrid Digital), consider antenna options. Since the HD channels are restricted in their power output, a solid antenna is required. I'm actually having good success with rabbit ears. Imagine that...

Most of the new radios come with dipole antenna wires that you spread out...but I didn't have great success with them. I "upgraded" to a good quality set of rabbit ears and the signals actually lock in and stay locked in. And no, I haven't had to add aluminum foil...yet.

The claim of "near CD quality" is a bit overstated. There's a noticeable sound upgrade, but it's not jaw-dropping.

The thing that's going to make HD radio work is solid content. The old rules of radio apply...if the product is good, ears will come.

Good luck....

I can receive HD pretty well with a dipole 84 miles away.

I just press a button on right side of the console. It says HD-2 KILT-FM and I get it fine! I also go back into KILT P/2 and look at the computer several times a day. I call him George the 3rd. We can't call him George Jr. because that name has been reserved for Mini-Marti's for years.
