Kimmer: I'm a "twit"

I wrote an account in today's Peach Buzz about his confrontation with the anti-war protester. He got mad because I simply said there was no way to corroborate his account without the knowledge of who the other participants were or an official police report. Like any good reporter, I prefer to have as many sides of a story as possible. That's all.

Today, at 3:36 p.m., he said on air, "Those little fairies at the Al Jazeira-Constitution said they couldn't corroborate it. They're saying I'm a probably a liar. Idiots. Don't call me next time! What a little twit. It's typical of what they do over there."

I decided to call him on air and defend myself. He ranted about me being against GST and that we focus on the 12 plus numbers. I said we do look at 25-54 numbers. But the station should feel beleaguered. It hasn't been doing especially well lately.

But he took the reasonable point that in Buzz, we frequently don't get the other side's story. And yes, that is true. It is a gossip column. But I don't personally doubt the veracity of the incident itself. I just would have liked to have heard from the guy who got beat up. I did apologize for getting him mad and he softened up a bit. But did tell him, "It's still okay to call me a twit."

Over at 1380, Coz Carson claims it's one of his listeners and challenged the Kimmer to a fight (for charity). Kimmer said no thanks, he's too old for that. Now if Coz can hook me up with that listener in question...

I guess the 50,000 listeners who had there radio tuned to WGST when Rodney called in on the air don't count.

As for the Kimmer's comments about Rodney; Kimmer is right on the money on everything except the "little" comment. Rodney's about 5'9".

Note to Kimmer: What did you do in Vietnam? Is there a record of your accomplishments? You spout from your cake hole every day that you joined in 1966 before flunking out of college (No wonder we lost that war, we had college dropouts fighting it.) but what was your role? Can any one in your vast (?) listening audience corroborate that you were there? Did you do anything heroic? If you ran for public office would the Swift Boat Vets dig up tons of stuff where you got the medal for typing and bugle blowing above and beyond the call of duty? I have known several Vets from different conflicts. While they don't talk about what they did, they all say where they were and who they were with. I have never heard Kimmy talk about where he was from 1966-1968.
______________

Rodney, maybe you should not have written 'an account' of what happened if you did not have another side to the story. If it could not be corroborated, what purpose did it serve, other than what Kimmer rightly said he felt it served for the AJC?

With all due respect, Mr. Neil - talk about spouting from your cake hole......you have cornered that market, me thinks.

I was kidding when I replied to Rodney's post and it was before any mention was made by Rodney that he was on the air with the Kimmer.Are you the only one allowed to kid with Rodney ?

Kimmer is a coward

Let me get this straight. Kimmer spends all his time saying "Semper Fi," boasting about his war experiences, and then bragging about how he beat up a war protestor.

But, when Coz Carson challenges Kimmer to a real life fight, Kimmer is too much of a coward to accept the fight.

Kimmer is starting to look more and more like George W. Bush.

:)

Wow, I wouldn't have expected you to compliment Kimmer so strongly.

Re: Kimmer: Rodney's a "little twit"

That's a fair criticism. Just because someone said something on the air, however juicy, doesn't necessarily necessitate I write about it. But I did. Couldn't resist. Sorry.

Supposedly, the person Kimmer beat up called Coz Carson on WAOK-AM today, but it's too soon to say if the person really is who he says he is. So this story may not be over quite yet.

Re: Kimmer: Rodney's a "little twit"

So it's okay for Petersen to brag about "beating somebody up," but Rodney's out of line for printing that and then merely stating that he's only heard one side of the story?

Rodney is a standup guy...

Rodney, like I've said before, you are a standup guy - you don't get defensive when someone makes a comment about something you have written.

Keep it up - you do a great job.

geez, get a room. Not another 'pro Ho' fest.

This just in~ Coz Carson just saw bigfoot in Avondale. Let's see if that makes the 'Peach Buzz'.

(It does appear that after the on-air conversation with the 'Rimmer, Mr Ho seems a little, um... 'anxious' to hear from the 'defendant' that somehow only calls WAOK...)

That qualifies him to give advice on real estate as if he was a moritcian giving medical advice. Only slightly related, but you wouldnt want a mortician telling how to live a healthy life.
______________

So a real estate agent isn't the best source for real estate advice.

Wow. It's a mystery as to why anybody would question your wisdom!

Here is the difference:

Rodney = Reporter.
Kimmer = Not a reporter.
