Kimo Jensen retiring from KSON in June 2026

It's such a rarity to see a radio veteran get to retire on his own terms with 6 months' notice. Congratulations to Kimo Jensen, a San Diego radio mainstay and 30-year KSON host. Audacy is even going to throw him a retirement party/concert/event in March. This is the way it should be done -- kudos all around!

What this says is that it was Kimo's decision, likely timed to coincide with the end of his existing contract.

I'm sure iHeart appreciates the six-month notice, as it saves them negotiations with Kimo on a contract he didn't intend to renew, allows them to plan a transition and provides a rare, publicizable, warm goodbye.

All that said, when the shoe is on the other foot, iHeart rarely if ever gives the talent that kind of grace and consideration.
KSON is owned by Audacy.
