Kind words from a certain Atlantic CIty Rock Station PD

I wanted to thank SR for some kind words he had for me a few years ago as I left. He said "You dont have what it takes for radio". After a couple years in radio i took a break and his words have resonated with me since. I have returned to radio sporadically but we all know how it pays in some areas. I have since started an Internet radio show that has taken off and is attracting Program Directors from several FM stations as well as satellite. I know it is Internet radio. But without those words from that balding, round, short PD, im not sure if my motivation would of been as high! So thank you SR!! You keep playing music, say nothing and keep blogging. I would say that i would love to go against your station eventually, but i think i will let you have the 150th,160th, whatever market!!!

Wow....words were never more well written from someone who obviously still has a lot of growing up to do...

You might want to think about what you say on these boards. You're opening up yourself for a lot of harsh criticism, especially the parts about 'getting attention from PD's all over the country' and 'even satellite radio'. If that were REALLY the case, there'd be no need for you to come on these boards and rant and rave like a four year old...

Thanks for your advice. I will keep that in mind. I dont really think I was ranting and raving like a 4 year old. I really dont care about criticism, everyone is entitled to their own opinion of course. Thank you board police

Really? Seriously? Sounds like the dude was right. I mean, if there was no internet, you'd have no show, and looking at your sight, you got two women to send pictures in bikinis. Howard Stern, look out! Maybe you'll get picked up, maybe you won't. But if you wanted to get back at someone, at least wait till you matter.

If anything, you succeeded in promoting you & your dorm room buddies' show and website. The people who read these threads love juicy gossip and when a radio newbie like yourself puts down a PD without having any practical experience themselves....

My question is: in what context did 'SR' tell you that you didn't have what it takes for radio? It's been said a billion times that radio isn't rocket science, so I'm guessing that you were given a shot during a weekend shift to prove your on-air talents and tried to turn it into another Kidd Chris clone?

Who Cares? obviously u do! I was just thanking the guy!
Now you're just being an idiot. You're right, I'm sorry. There was no sour grapes and no sarcasm in your thank you. And when you called him chubby and bald that was your little lovey nick name for him, kind of like smoochums, right? Please.

And you know what, you're right, I've already spent too much time responding to you. You're not worth the typing time. Enjoy your show. Have fun tonight.

You are exactly right Mr. Braden!! You hit it on the head. Promotion! Thats the bottom line! You must work in radio..

Question for you: In all seriousness, why do you feel it neccessary to comment on my post? Is it personal? Maybe u know the guy. Or are you a radio purist? Which i respect also.

There are several things wrong with these thread, foremost being that it is not in the internet radio forum.

Jerseyjerksshow, say what you want, but SR was right. You weren't made for radio, maybe internet radio, but I think that may showcase the limitations of your abilities. You are taking shots at someone who has been a proven commodity in the South Jersey market, someone who people can ACTUALLY hear if they turn their radio on, unlike yourself.

In reality, your site has probably gotten more traffic from posting this thread than it has since you launched it.

The sad truth of the matter is that you have no offers on the table. No PD's are wasting their time listening to your show, because they know what you are, and that is talentless. Your "talent" has launched you to the top of internet radio. But as the saying goes, "if a tree falls in the forest and no one hears it, does it make a sound?" Well sir, if your internet radio show has no listeners, than is it a show? The answer is no.

BTW, if your going to talk trash, at least have a website that looks half decent. I was surprised by the looks of your site that the web address wasn't www.angelfire.com/......

Sorry friend, EPIC FAIL

As a matter of fact, I am a radio purist, but not so much of a naive prude to not understand what you're trying to do...

The Internet provides excellent opportunities for broadcasters, professional or not, to 'do their thing' without the consequences of ratings, pissing off advertisers, program directors, or the FCC. I'm all for it. If you've got something to say, by all means, go nuts...

I'm not knocking your ways of marketing. You've got to get your name out there somehow. But doing so by slamming a PD isn't the way to go about it. Maybe you have no desire to go back to terrestrial radio and could care less about what I'm saying. But seeing that you're promoting your show, your website and pretty much calling out a PD by name (I'm sure by now, we've all figured out who 'SR' is and what AC rock station we're talking about), there might be a day when you're looking for that radio gig in AC or Philly and this post might come back to bite you in the a$$ because you'll be labeled as difficult and insubordinate. I've seen it happen first hand and once you get stuck with a label like that in the radio business, it's hard to shake.

Just a little advice. Take it for what it's worth. Best of luck.

I know "SR" and he would never say anything like that to anyone for no reason. He actually cares very deeply about helping and encouraging other people that he works with. If I were you, i'd keep my mouth shut about him and promote your internet radio station somewhere else. The reason I care is that you are slandering this man and that doesn't need to be done.

Dude, are you kidding me???? Your show airs once a week on the internet. You started in November, 2009. You have 26 Twitter followers and you're on the internet, which means you almost tie me for Twitter followers and I'm not on Twitter!!!

Are you seriously coming at "SR" and saying that you've made it and he should be ashamed of giving you the boot??

He actually gets paid to be on the radio. You beg people to listen to your show on a podcast.

Oh, by the way, your website says Tuesday 8-10p, but your Facebook page says 7-9p.

I think "SR" was wrong. You're not cut out for radio OR internet.
