I'd guess the reason no one has said anything might be because no one seems to even care about WABB anymore. There is just NOTHING compelling coming out of that station. And I hear nothing being said about them around town, whereas I used to constantly hear people chattering about their latest bit, stunt whatever. It's not a horrible station, nor is it even close to good. It's just...there. And that's the CHR kiss of death: a complete lack of passion or energy.
The jocks (this means all of you WABB folks trolling here) read the same gossipy/TMZ factoids you can read/watch/hear anywhere and seem to have no understanding of what it means to CREATE entertainment that draws an audience in and COMPELS them to continue listening (their TSL MUST be horrendous), they have no promotions of note (much less any original or topical ones....missing the good old days of label $$$ obviously), they have zero street presence, mornings is a complete disgrace (John is a AAA or Rock midday or overnight dude at best and Mena should be working at the mall or something, QTip has potential, but doesn't fit with those two), the imaging is 110% boring, and the music is just...."ehhh". The music isn't horrible, but not great either, although that's probably more to blame on the state of the industry right now.
So, there's just no excitement coming out of the speakers right now. The Pirate is much more entertaining in that trainwreck kind of way and I see the Zew on the street more lately. I hope the new PD lights a fire under some butts and gets good and creative and gets WABB back to the energy it had in the old days. The old days had their problems too, but at least they tried to come up with good stuff....
Montgomery is starting to be a more interesting market than Mobile.....and there's some CRAP on in Montgomery, trust me.
