KING 5's new look

I just saw the promo earlier tonight, of Jean Enersen wiping the old graphics out with a mop. Looks like the new Gannett graphics/music package is coming June 18th.

Did the mop say "Nordstrom's" on the side?

On a non-comedic note, that's really interesting. Most of the time you just tune in and everything changes without warning. I do happen to like the graphics that KING currently uses, so I hope the change isn't too radical. I wonder if NWCN will have a new look eventually.

Good for KING on coming up with a cool promo idea!

The KING "K5" stylized logo has been roughly the same for nearly 40 years. With only italicization, gloss, repositioning of the crown jewels, gold trim and the NBC logo added over the years. And since every Seattle TV station has changed logos over the years, I wonder if it's time for KING-TV to get a brand new logo.

Now before everyone gets upset. KING isn't the worst offender. By FAR. The ABC O&Os on Channel 7 in other markets STILL have that REALLY old circle 7 logo that should have been retired completely in 1979!

It was cutting edge for 1965. But REALLY tacky looking in 2014.

So will it just turn into a generic "NBC 5", or are they keeping the classic K5 logo?
And is it going to look like KPNX in Phoenix - a bunch of crap on the bottom of the screen at all times?

They'll probably be keeping the KING 5 name and logo, but yea it's probably going to look like KPNX, KUSA, etc...

What's going to happen to NWCN as well? Will it still be NW news or will it be replaced with KING-5 and KGW-8 news rebroadcasts? And is that set being tweaked?

NWCN will remain NWCN. King 5 will remain King 5. Just new a new look to the GFX. Don't anticipate huge changes to the sets until after the move (if it happens).

I don't know. That's gonna be interesting to see, as NWCN, Texas's TXCN, as well as any other local cable news networks Gannett aquired in the Belo deal.

Now Jean has a squeegee and washing windows around the station. Maybe these are job skills she will need in the future? Gannet Job retraining program? Wonder what they are making the janitors do.

Why is this thread in the Radio Section, not the TV section?

We have no designated TV board. So EVERYTHING Seattle, radio, TV, gets put here. Because Seattle. :)

California has their own TV board - even Illinois. But one of the top 20 markets in the United States doesn't. Everything TV gets put here unfortunately.

Oh you don't want to go there.

You see, it's perfectly okay for people to talk about other things that are way off from the topic of the thread or the point of the board overall.

But if a radio station plays a song that doesn't fit someone's personal tastes or perception of the format, like "Kokomo," there will be hell to pay and it will be discussed her until the end of time.

"Do as I say, not as I do."

That's just the way it works around here.

NWCN all changed - it looks completely like KPNX! A red line above a breaking news report (like Obama this morning).

I watched KING 5's 6:30pm newscast online. They had the Gannett newsbar (except for the bottom news ticker) on screen at all times. But the best had to be when they were teasing upcoming stories before a break. Coming up next on KING 5, we now know the name of the man who stopped on I-5, <SWOOSH>, we will tell you about the new exhibit at Woodland Park Zoo, <SWOOSH>, we will tell you what one neighborhood is doing about graffiti, <SWOOSH>, and Jim Guy will have the forecast...

I never thought that I would hear "swooshes" at KING 5. Did anyone see the very beginning of a newscast? Are they using the "Connecting Western Washington" followed by a cheesy graphic of a generic downtown area similar to what KPNX does with "Connecting Arizona"? Is NWCN "Connecting the Pacific Northwest"??? This should be good...

Wow - how *SWOOSH* annoying. We *SWOOSH* all know that *SWOOSH* KING-5's *SWOOSH* ratings will go *SWOOSH!!* down.
