KING-FM

Was surprised no one mentioned the R.I.F. of three people at KING-FM last week. One was long-time PD (not current) who was tracking, and other long-time midday host. Clearly more vt'ing in KING-FM's future; but the station is still hurting financially.

I had heard about it from a friend of mine but I figured why bother to post the info as the board was busy enough with T.J.'s multiple requests for radio history, the marking of Pat O'Day's birthday and the fawning over J&B's new contract. :)

While it's true that sales are down (where are they up these days) the person who told me about the RIFs said they weren't surprised who was let go considering who's now PD. I'm not sure what they meant by that, tho...

I'm actually pretty surprised KING-FM hasn't already used more syndication/voicetracking already. Of all the formats you can voicetrack, I imagine classical is probably one of the easiest. You just have to know each piece you're playing, a little background on it (the composer, the orchestra playing it, the conductor, etc.) give it all a good semi-formal presentation and time it all smoothly each hour.....

It's still sad to hear live voices disappear off Seattle's Best Bach. How does KING-FM rank in PPM?.......
