Kingston's New Light Hits 102.7 WLYK "The Lake"

102.7 WLYK changed formats Sept 7 2012 at 11:58pm Last song for "Timeless Favorites" was 11:53PM "Elton John - Rocket Man"
first song on Kingston's New Light Hits was 11:58PM " Beyonce - Single Ladies (Put A Ring on it)" for the last two weeks 102.7 WLYK has been slowly changing

Not to be picky, but while "Light" is correct, the radio business tends to prefer to stick with "lite".
(as seen on their website: http://www.1027thelake.com/ )

"Kingston's NEW choice @ work" <---- How's their signal in the Kingston workplace? Or will people listen online at work?

Is there an actual station in Kingston already claiming to be the "at work Station" for Kingston?

From their playlist it looks like they are playing a format more similar to what CKWS used to play back when they were Lite 104.3.

Ya Yeziknoradio I know "Lite" It was late ;D "How's their signal in the Kingston workplace?" Kingston gets the 102.7 WLYK clear the transmitter is only 10 miles or 20 Km from downtown Kingston Core also when the border started on 102.7 and became #1 in the Kingston market they had 1/2 the power 3 Kw and now they are 6 Kw. The big problem for The Lake is sound quality. It is very compressed and sounds a little distorted and mushy . At the studio sound is great after processor rack but when it loops through the U.S. studio something seems to happen. "Will people listen online at work?" They do now and the sound is great and what you hear online is the same over air. There format should be something like Majic 100 Ottawa

I now live in Kingston, and WLYK comes in just fine even in the basement. I also get a religious station from Cape Vincent.

Funny that I was just thinking recently that Kingston lacks an "at work" station. That said, that isn't my kind of music, so I'll be keeping my office radio on 98.9 The Drive or K-Rock.

Same here, you'd be surprised at how many people listen to K-rock on this side of the border. Its signal covers the area just as well as most Watertown stations. Last time I checked it was actually getting decent ratings here. 98.9 isn't as strong since its pattern doesn't favor the US and it runs a lower ERP than K-rock but I still find it strong enough to listen to.

I can only listen online... and tuned-in just last week for the first time in a long time. The new format is pretty good! - BUT, that PM drive guy sounds like a "drone". He needs a little personality ::) Actually the way I listen is through tune-in radio, and the audio level is terrible! -- I need to crank it nearly to the max level to hear it normally. Then, it was last Thursday or Friday, around 3pm... and suddenly the "speed" of the music dropped like a rock. It was as if you were listening to a 33 1/3 record, and then flipped the speed down to 16!!! (is THIS showing my age or what???) They were in the middle of playing an 80's favorite (forgot which one)... and then....... ??? ??? I kept listening for about another 10 - 15 mins and it didn't switch back. It went through a liner/jingle stop too. At that point I had to shut it off. I wonder how long it DID go until??? --- or if the station got any calls.

That's all very strange! Songs played on the radio are supposed to speed up, not slow down. That way they can squeeze more ads in per hour without decreasing the number of songs played per hour.
Someone screwed up royally!

That PM drive guy is Rick Choma back in the 70's he was one of the fast talking CKLC Super Stars he now has a Softer sound to his voice a lot softer and older sounding. You should hear him on K-Rock! ;D He is one of the most friendly guys in Kingston Radio
here is his K-Rock Bio http://www.krock1057.ca/on-air/hosts-shows/rick-choma/
