Long time PD/OM of KIOT has left the building! Sounds like a univision budget cut. The first KIOT PD Sam Scott rejoined univision about a year and a half ago to be on the now defunct Range, since the format flip he has been Asst. PD/MD on KIOT. Those of you that will see the AD running for a PD should save your time and stamps as I predict that Sam if he wants it will become the next PD of KIOT!

Any thoughts????

Sir..you are a crack-up.
Jim Walton was not the object of a budget cut.
He left to pursue his voice-over business.
And he was selected by Rich Ford to handle voice duties for their advertising after the passing of long-time Rich Ford voiceman Johnny Hyatt.

No budget cut. An amiable and gracious leaving.

Jeff Young is assistant PD. I think it would be his gig if wanted.

I Know that years ago Jeff would not want that type of responsibility, but maybe that has changed. I wish whomever gets the gig much luck. I do not know of course why Jim left or was let go only those in the room know. I just look at it from the point of who gives up 60K(estimate based on the market and years as pd could be more) in Salary?

It was entirely his call as he is the new voice of Rich Ford taking over for Johnnie Hyatt. Serious money there as those guys knock out tons, and tons, and tons of radio and do it as good as anybody. And, I think you are are overestimating KIOT PD coin too.

You are correct Art. Rich Ford is perhaps the city's most consistent auto advertiser.
Jim will be doing well with that alone. Combine that with his successful home-based voice-over business that is reportedly going well, radio became odd-man out.
60k? Seems a bit high in this age of consolidation..but if true..it gives you Bobby, an idea of what he left for.

Well isn't that super de duper. Hey Taz how are things at AGM these days

Yes it is for Jim. Well deserved.

As for AGM..ask someone who has inside info. Usually yourself.
