KIRO FM - Promos a tad bit to much!

My gosh. How many times a damn day do I have to hear about Heather, her two boys and Heathers fear of it snowing?

So...what...sad stories are going to make me listen to KIRO? Hello. I am listening. Although, I'm not sure why.

Agreed. The concept of these "lifestyle"-type promos is good but the execution is terrible. And I guess Hatch-et decided to bring back the "where Seattle stays in touch" tagline. Tacoma, Everett, Bellevue - you're not welcome at KIRO!!! ::)

Haven't listened in the past few days, but I suspect it's the age-old art of plugging promos into all the first of year open avails. Outside of drive times I'll bet there will be more than the average number of PSAs too.

What about James in Kent, who wakes up early to jog three miles because he has a child on the way?

"I am listening."... key phrase there. Bottom line, promos can be obnoxious, but still be effective. And Guru is right, you will hear more this time of year due to lighter commercial inventory.

"i aint listening"...key phrase here. bottom line, too many promos are obnoxious, and take away from the news, and programming content. this is the mindset of the consultants and programming for the average quarter hour listener, not a TSL'er. although, with todays KIRO, and its coreographed contrived sugarized patter, who'd want to listen longer than a quarter hour.

as far as guru being right, you've said that many of times in your freak reply's. kinda like a skipping record. maybe you should start a TV, and radio guru fan club. charge 19.95 per year. ya buddy!

That's funny. I have been critical of guru as much as I have agreed. Sounds like you are basing your opinions on "selected" posts. If you read all my posts regarding Guru, you would come to to a different conclusion. However, I understand that would be a lot of work. Ohwell. I guess accuracy here does take some effort.

You are right. There ARE.

It's nice to agree now and then...

salvatori doesn't let the facts get in the way of a good online smackdown

Actually I think the execution is quite effective. They paint a good picture in just a few seconds and are highly memorable.

They do play them quite often but I'll take them over those old and screechy "stop freakin', call <the Plumber>" spots. I learned in an almost Pavlovian manner to turn the station within the first five seconds whenever those came on.

Yes I believe there is a guy named Tom with a jewelry store or two who's commercials do the exact same thing for me having heard them for as long as I can remember....
