KIRO FM to Sports?

Buddies in St Louis say Bonneville announces today they will be taking WMVN-FM all sports  Bonneville press release says they are "committed to sports on the FM dial with a combination of morning local talent and ESPN." Guess they tried sports on AM in Phoenix and news on FM and it killed both stations:mad: Does this mean KIRO-FM is about to go local morning sports and ESPN or do they stay in a simulcast ???

Heard Laura Ingram today on KVI and that lady rocks! This conservative cowboy likes her a TON better that Carlson and Shram. Best talk move in Seattle in a long time :D Finally a talk show worth listening to in the afternoon. Big announcement coming out of the WOLF in a few weeks. Stay tuned cowboys ;)

Why would KIRO - FM go sports? First off, Mariners broadcasts will only be on 710 AM. Secondly, why would they spend all the time drilling "News Talk Seven Ten Cairo NOW ON 97.3 FM" merely to kill that later? I would say if anything, the AM would be a sports station. I don't suppose in these modern times an AM/FM simulcast in a market the size of Seattle-Tacoma-Everett can go on forever.

Where does it say, for certainty, that the Ms will be on 710? All they are saying is that they will be on KIRO...hmmm.

But you are correct, Observer, they are sure beating that branding horse into the ground. Doesn't seem reasonable to drag all those folk to FM just to blow it up for sports in the spring.

In Phoenix, Sports 620 KTAR is doing very well, since they have rights to all pro sports in town except the NHL Coyotes, plus ASU. News/Talk 92.3 KTAR-FM is holding it's own, and now growing in the money demos. I'm guessing it will be the same pattern for the KIRO stations.

Now what could THAT be?

"Ladies and gentlemen. After 20 years of mediocre programming decisions and a suicidal attempt at taking on KMPS, we have decided to go back to what the 100.7 frequency has been indelibly famous for. Welcome back to Stereo 101 KSEA, Just Beautiful Music...."
