KIRO NEWSRADIO 71 - WHAT HAPPENED? YOU GUESSED IT.

You guessed it.

More cancellations.

All evening hosts gone and replaced.

Sadly, popular veteran sports reporter and evening host Mike Brown is gone.

Brown is the second early evening sports reporter to leave in the past 6 months.

The last was the very popular N.Y. Vinnie, who also did lifestyle talk and local politics.

Frank Shiers 9p-1a, gone, although continues as an Oldies DJ at KBSG-FM.

Replacement is re-feed of Phil Hendrie.

They still can't get it together overnights, with re-runs of Dave Ross.

Before that it was the Midnight Truckers Network.

Bryan Styble SHOULD be the overnight host, but has been relegated to only 3 hours on Sunday night.

Other recent exits include Ron Reagan Jr. (son of the President).

It is sad to see a major Metro lose so much local talent.

Any insights....?

P.S. Subject line represents the original 10 share KIRO, w/ Yeend, French, Ross, Van Cise, the Mariners, the Seahawks, etc. etc. I wish it could come back somehow.

Yeah.. you need to take a break.. Go outside and take a walk.. get some fresh air.. It's healthy

That type of response is nonconstructive. KIRO is a heritage station with one of the best lineups of local talent in recent history.

KIRO listeners are upset over the loss of a local outlet to voice their opinions. This is an industry trend, and the cost-cutting by all the major companies stifles local veteran broadcasting voices. Wake up and smell the coffee. KIRO is now syndicated for 7 hours/day, used to be live and local 24 hours/day.

Kudos for NOT claiming it was a conservative conspiracy.

The worst is over?

Does that mean talk programmers will be a bit more creative and stop with the cookie-cutter Rush clones?

Come on, why even post that comment because you know the response will be "this is the only thing that works"

I hope so! Beginning with KKOB!

Dale...I'm afraid you're right...I do call a lot of conservative conspiracies! Frank Shiers was a centrist and has done great DJ and news anchor work on KWJZ and KBSG.
