Ahhhh...Back when KTZZ-TV was just a lovable underdog UHF TV station...You didn't even have to look at their faces, just the balding heads as viewed from above were just as entertaining...
This was during that bizarre News Out Of The Box trip of KIRO-TV news history, right before the UPN switch and Bonneville selling it. KIRO-AM & FM (100.7) were synched, on TV, movements of Steve Raible, Nerissa Williams, Susan Hutchinson and Harry Wappler on the set were all choreographed by the Seattle Ballet.
This had complications of course. Wayne Cody had trouble fitting into the tiny tutu and thousands of viewers begged KIRO not to allow Steve Raible to do any more pirouettes. News babes Susan Hutchinson and Nerissa Williams soon quit Seattle TV for good after their requests to just be simple wallflowers to this were denied. First, they had to walk-dance around in high heels, walking up/down steps or stand for an hour at a time. Have you even been in the same AREA CODE with a chick who's been on her high heels that long and lived to tell about it?
This high tech Swan Lake approach to news was complete with a logo that appeared to be at least largely influenced-if not a total rip off-of the logo for Seattle Gay News.
What was the KIRO-TV brass THINKING??
Luckily, the radio people were not affected that drastically, but if the Seattle Ballet had their way, Yeend, Herscholt and Johnson would have been Seattle's answer to The Three Tenors.....
