KIRP-LP 98.3 Sugar Land is on the air

Happened to catch a new station this afternoon on 98.3, which turned out to be KIRP-LP in Sugar Land. Was all Salsa music during the time I listened, using "Radio Positiva" branding. Very spotty reception at my Cy-Fair location 20 miles from the transmitter site, but fortunate to have a sweet spot for it in my driveway.

The station runs 15 watts at 77 meters. Mono signal.

So KTJM is now sandwiched between two first adjacents in the SW side of the market.
 
It's owned by POSITIVE BROADCASTING COMPANY, so the "Radio Positiva" makes sense.
They're lucky to be that high up. Most LPFMs I've seen are a 3rd of that height but with 7 times the power.

Somewhat surprised me too. Several Salsa songs in a row when I listened yesterday, similar to what you would hear out of Cuba. But that might not be what KIRP typically plays; I haven't done any additional listening yet.
 
How far north does it cover? Because if it reaches the Galleria area then it could possibly work. There is a lot of people from Central America living there and salsa is one of their favorites.

Central America prefers cumbia over salsa when it comes to tropical music; salsa has always been a niche genre in the Mexico to El Salvador part of Central America.

I heard KIRP near downtown during my Monday evening commute, but very weak signal. However this morning there was no trace of them at my Cy-Fair location despite a listenable signal Sunday evening. They might not be on the air full time yet, so take that into consideration.
