KISM 92.9 Bellingham

KPUG makes it up here 300 miles SW of KJNP when conditions are good or after KJNP signs off for the night. It's never usually very good for long though, but its about a 1500 mile trip

KPUG comes in GREAT on the intercom system at the senior apartments where my mom lives! (To be fair, it is 10kW days and 5kW directional right at her at night. I would estimate she is about 1800 feet from the array.)

Wait, did I miss something? How did we get from HD on KWPZ to reception of KPUG?

Someone mentioned the AM stations and their translators.......

I mean, the name of the forum is Radio Discussions. Not sure how it works in your household, but where I come from we have perhaps a topic but that topic will wander a bit as more information comes to light. Everybody has a different feel for this and I understand not all will share my view, but I think of this place like a digital campfire, where you may start on one topic and as the talking stick goes around the firepit, a little more info gets shared, questions are asked, and there is some frequncy drift on the topic. It make ME feel good when that drift unearths some new info.

In this case, though, the origianl topic was KISM. Which has their AUX on KPUG tower 3. KPUG tower 3 also contains the translator for KISM-HD3. Also included in this discussion was some additional discussion about the other local stations in the sub-market this is NW WA. Nothing too nefarious, and I don't think anybody was trying to threadjack.

I have a spouse who is slightly on the spectrum and is driven insane by frequency drift, so I DO get that your milage may vary. And that the same things that make some people happy will make others uncomfortable.

Ordinarily, I don't mind discussions drifting from one topic to another, but the last few posts were about the HD being off on KWPZ, then without warning, we switch to KPUG. Most of the time when a topic drifts, we'll eventually wonder how we get on this topic, but if you follow the thread, it makes some sense.

Well good thing you’re not a moderator then.

And for once I wasn’t even the one who caused the topic drift!

Reliable sources informed me that the missing HD is just a technical fault. KWPZ is in analog-only for now but will return in HD. Enjoy CJNY while you can do so.
(Too bad KWPZ won't consider asymmetric HD - this would be a good case for that mode.

KWPZ Lynden (Mt Constitution) is back in HD as of yesterday. Over-the-air reception of CJNY in fringe spots south-of-the-border is now wiped out thanks to the HD sidebands. At least CJNY streams.
