KISQ Flips To Soft AC

10,000 songs in a row. That repeat every two hours!!! I heard Lisa St. Regis on The Breeze this afternoon. Looks like she survived the axe. As I am sure she is voice tracked, just like KISS FM was. Plus she voices many iHeart stations up and down the west coast

Tony Sandoval is back too, it was weird hearing them play soft ac music. I was waiting for them to mess up and say 98.1 Kiss FM.

The beauty of voice-tracking it - if you mess up, you can fix it before it goes out over the air. I'm glad they held onto Tony Sandoval. In this age of mostly personality-less DJs, he's always stood out - especially on his Sunday oldies show. Last I heard, but St. Regis and Sandoval were voice-tracking a number of other stations, so it makes sense (dollars and cents) for iHeart to keep them at 98.1 as well.

And When will KTSF (on Channel 26) decided to yank Shepherd's Chapel off the schedule to follow what happened KISQ when they switched to Soft AC, Bring in CMC Overnight by playing many of these songs as heard on Breeze 98.1 FM along with a handful on Slow Jams that we previously heard on 98.1 KISS FM?, Count Me In!

So, did "The Breeze" play any Prince songs this morning? 'cause you know Kiss-FM woulda been all over that. KFOG, somewhat surprisingly, played 2 hours or so of the late great Purple One. (tho' I'm told listeners had to suffer thru Pinfield's stories about Prince).

Yes Too Bad KISQ removed their oldies format. I know K-Earth 101 and other oldies stations are playing and reporting Prince Death. I know KOIT does play some Prince Music some of the time.

KIFM in San Diego is a softer more traditional AC and the latest 6+d has it #1, and despite the music skew, is now in the top 10 in 25-54.

Similar things have happened with WFEZ in Miami and the adjusted WDUV in Tampa.

David the San Diego 98.1 FM station got rid of Soft AC Today and became sunny 98.1 FM in San Diego

According to this link 98.1 San Diego has changed their playlists to resemble KOIT's current playlist.

Obviously, they did not think they could do what Cox has done in Miami and Tamp, which is to make the format enticing to 25-54 while at the same time sounding unlike the traditional AC stations.

Or maybe Entercom didn't want to do the soft AC format.

I was surprised to hear KISQ play K-Ci & JoJo's "All My Life" -- and the newest song I've heard them play is Michael Bublé's "Haven't Met You Yet" from 2010. Both of these are on the brighter side of their playlist, although Bublé's other songs would fit well, especially "Home".

Here are some other newer songs that would fit well in the format:

Charlie Puth - "One Call Away"
Ed Sheeran - "Photograph"
George Ezra - "Budapest"
Jamie Lawson - "Wasn't Expecting That"
Lady Antebellum - "Need You Now"
One Direction - "Night Changes"
Passenger - "Let Her Go"
Sam Smith - "I'm Not the Only One"
Will Young - "Leave Right Now"

And of course Adele... but I'd hold off on her for now, because there's only so much Adele a person can take hearing on the radio on any given day. :p

I'm now wondering if 98-1 The Breeze will flip to all Christmas music come this November?

KBRZ Calls are taken on FM so...

If I were I Heart, I'd hold onto KISQ. As everybody probably knows, the calls are only required at the top of the hour, and if they're said quickly enough or quietly enough, nobody but radio nerds notice them. And nobody but radio nerds care, either.

Both jocks have a long colorful past in Bay Area radio. Lisa is pretty versitile. Voice tracking "The Breeze" isn't that far off from her work with K101 back in the day. She also voice tracks V101.1 (KHYL) in Sacramento.
