KISS 106.1 PD

Steve Rivers Out On Disability

KBKS PD Steve Rivers has taken a week off on disability. An interim PD has not been named.

One week...or more than a week?
Interim PD?
What about the APD...Bender?

Yeah that does seem weird that he is only going to be out a week, you already have an APD that can essentially hold down the fort for that long, yet you bring up the the fact that no interim PD has been named. Seems fishy....nevertheless let me be the first to wish Steve a speedy recovery.

Its Bender's show now. Mamma feels bad for Steve Rivers it has been a tough ride in Seattle and none of it his fault, in this girls "humble opinion." Movin had beaten KBKS long before he got to town and KISS sounds better than it did before he arrived. hard to compete against KUBE and the ya ya sisters across the street. Portland moves have got to make Bender think about taking on KUBE and MOVIN head on. Course he's have to beat Monti first and then T-Man cause last trend he was no where close. Ya ya sad.

Steve is a top notch CHR PD with a ton of experience. I really do wish him well. He did the best with KBKS that he possibly could. Hope he gets better soon!

Yes. He also programmed KISS LA, KISS and Jammin Boston, among many others. He is merely on the disabled list and will revisit his options as his health improves.
He has done good things with KBKS and I wish him the best.

I was going to say...he took Kiss Boston and Kiss LA to the top of the ratings chain! The man is a pro. I remember how many people bashed him when they found out that CBS hired an "older" person to program Top 40.

The age doesnt matter, its can you understand the format, the relationship, etc. And thats what Steve does...he knows his s**t

I wish him all the best!

Nothing but best wishes for Steve here, and that shows the posters have class too. A radio legend, and let's hope he gets well soon.

R&R is reporting that Steve had a stroke last month and is being released from an LA-area hospital today.

Who needs a PD for KISS? Just take the 15 most popular CHR songs and spin them every 40 or so minutes. Isn't what they have been doing for the past few years?

Seriously I wish Steve nothing but the best in his recovery. But I honestly have to question some of these moves. First off, now that KMPS has gained a little breathing room against the Wolf, the powers to be at CBS think its a good idea to stretch Becky Brenner thin by having her turn some of her attention to a station still trying to rebound in KISS. I would imagine the folks at Entercom are licking their chops.

Secondly, Steve's record speaks for itself. The guy has built an incredible track record. But if you have to depend on someone his age and his condition to get the job done instead of the hundreds of solid CHR programmers around the country, then you really have to question the product and not the one who runs it going forward.

Why would Entercom be licking their chops? Brenner would never take her eyes off of KMPS. Besides, she probably thinks Rihanna is a hair care product; and she will likely have someone else call the day-to-day shots when it comes to music.

Steve Rivers with one hand tied behind his back is better than many CHR programmers at full throttle. Besides, there's a unique thing with Rivers and Seattle.
