KISS 106.1

As already discussed on this board, this station is struggling. And as I am listening early Sunday morning, I'm just amazed that my kids can be treated to the wonderful and clean Christian countdown show and then have songs with lyrics like "Shawty what I gotta do to get you home, My jeans full of gwap (slang for sperm) , And they ready for Shones, Cadillacs Maybachs for the sexy grown, Patrone on the rocks that'll make you moan."+

Kind of makes for a pleasant segue.

Don't forget the songs about rape and cop killing!

It's not your father's American Bandstand anymore kiddo!
KISS is dead.. everyone said Grandpa was a heritage programmer who would fix it.. Hmm, FRESH 1061 anyone?

Fresh 106.1 won't happen. Doesn't make sense. With Warm and KPLZ in the market, not to mention two other short term niche stations like Movin and Jack (and Jack is already in the cluster)... It won't be Fresh. Youd be better off going Spanish. The question isn't what will they flip it to.... the question is what will they flip it to that will make more money? KBKS billed what last year?? Just under $10 million maybe? Barely in the Top 10 in the market? The problem isn't with the ratings. Believe it or not, they have been growing over the course of the past year (Very slowly), you can see that just by looking at +12. The female numbers are decent enough to try and sell. CBS isn't pouring any money into that entire cluster anyway, so who cares. I can't tell you the last time I saw any of those stations on a bus, a billboard or on TV. The problem is that billing continues to go down. But what are they going to flip to that will make them more money? Short answer: nothing. They will flip Jack before anything else over there. It's just like saying The END is going to flip. Thats great, but to what? They have decent numbers in their core demos. KPLZ is in the same boat, KMTT same thing (and both are in the tank if you just look at 12+, behind KBKS as a matter of fact). I think all four are fine. In fact, my money says nothing changes in the market in 2008. It will be rather boring, nothing to see here.

Gwap -  Slang term for money.  Although I can see why you would think of it as a meaning for the other stuff.  Say it out loud.  (GWAP)  the sound your mouth just made is why you were confused away from the real meaning.

Look I'm not interested in getting into a discussion on slang words used by uneducated children, but if you go to the urban dictionary, you will see various meanings for the word. Maybe we can find out what he meant in the lyric during his next appearance on Larry King.

I'm confused as to what the big deal is... its been the number one song on the CHR charts for over a month and on the rhythmic charts even longer. I wouldn't worry about posting about what your kids are hearing... I would go check to make sure it isn't their ringtone. 10 bucks says it might be.

WORD

TU1,  smarta** comments aside, I can respectfully see where you are speaking from with this.  It is "kind of" a bait and switch move to have diametrically polarized programming scheduled together.  However, you are the one who can "help" your kids pick and choose what they listen to.  However, I remember quite fondly, when I was a younger kid than I am now, anything my folks forbid me to watch or listen to,  caused me to become intrigued even more.  Good luck with that.

side note* at least the lyrics of that song is congruent with heterosexually oriented christian ideals. It's almost a win win deal.

Gwap is slang for a roll of money. Here's a hint. Slang/urban dictionaries are written by white middle-aged people who learn the words from their white upper middle class kids who "think" they know the real meanings of them. Guess it doesn't really matter that much, just FYI.

i just love the fact that he dissected the song to figure out what the hell it meant. it's probably safe to say that your kids probably have no idea what it means either.

and to be honest, i think i heard words worse than "gwap" when sean hannity was talking about eliot spitzer the last two days.

while you're at it can you look up the following in your urban dictionary? your kids will hear these words soon so you better get on it:

Captain Save-A-Ho

Hyphy

Bap

Broccoli

Click Clack

Fo Sheedo

Pizzo

Oh its funny to see white people pretend to be hip while our kids laugh at us! ;D

And may I say....if its too loud, your too old.
