Kiss 106.1

Does anyone have any info on this new station that launched October 1st? Their website is kissfmcny.com but it's still under construction. There is no information on Radio Locator about it, or anywhere else on the Internet for that matter. They advertise as 106.1 Syracuse, 97.1 Oswego/Fulton.

There are several articles on CNYradio.com mentioning them over the years. They are basically an internet radio station but operate a few part 15 transmitters, meaning they aren't licensed and the coverage must be really small.

Just checked it out... haven't checked this board in awhile. (I'm not crazy about the new look... kinda liked the old one better.)

Anyway, was surprised to tune in just in time to hear one song end, and go into a "106.1 Kiss FM" jingle, and into another song. Not only because they have jingles in the first place, but also because it sounded pretty similar to those used already in the market on Z89 and in the Utica market on that station's Kiss-FM.

I'm surprised that the jingle company allowed that -- usually a particular jingle package is only allowed to be used by one station per market. Secondly, I can't help but wonder why these people keep coming back over and over with the same "Kiss FM" name, when it's already been in use in the not-that-distant Utica market for like 20 years. Can't they rip-off the name of a radio station that's NOT already being used within 50 miles?

Well, interesting as this is... if their history is any indication of the future, I wouldn't be surprised if it disappears again, sooner or later. Guess you gotta give 'em credit for at least trying. Others in the webcast arena have given up after fewer setbacks.

Were you just listening to their webstream or did you actually pick them up over the air. I'm curious to know where you were picking them up if you got them over the air. I can't imagine their signal gets out very far.
