KISS 108 airing Christian advice show?

from Wikipedia on him:

>On June 26, 2007, Premiere Radio Networks announced that they had signed the show to a syndication deal, and assumed responsibility of the broadcast on July 1, 2007.

CC of course wants their shows cleared (thus 1200 becoming Rush Radio) and this is one example.

The affiliation list linked to that page says Kiss 108 indeed is an affiliate (not sister station WXKS, which
is talk). I guess there's an all talk version and a couple hybrid ones
with some songs.Sponsored by a "non profit" ministry

Premiere Radio's site lists it under Entertainment Programs, not Talk Programs.

The question here is: DOes Kiss 108 actually air the show...or do they just run the spots.

The show may be intended for Christian Contemporary stations....but, without that, just getting the spots on the air in a major market is their top concern.

I wouldn't be surprised if Kiss 108 simply runs a few spots from Clear Channel / Premiere....and therefore it's listed as an "affiliate".

McCallister's show is marketed toward people under 25, so it's out of the demo for talk stations. There is a two hour all talk version of the show that runs live 10-12mid Sundays, along with a three hour version with several songs an hour inserted. In addition, he has a five day a week overnight version of the show with pre-recorded calls, which is much more music intensive, but the weekday show has few affiliates.

Kiss 108 runs the three hour show with music on Sunday nights. Interestingly, sister station Z-100 in New York, which also ran that version, recently dropped the program. Other stations that used to run the all talk version have pushed it back to midnight-2am. Seems that Clear Channel/Premiere will be launching a five hour Sunday night national show similar to Open House Party. If that happens, look for more CC stations to push McCallister back to overnights or drop him altogether. I could see Kiss 108 following suit.

DM Live IS a Christian based talk show, but they refuse to sign with any Christian station. They only want to reach out to the secular audience.

As fmradio1 stated, Kiss 108 most definitely carries this program on Sunday evenings. They carry the version with local music inserted between his DM's breaks. Having heard this show quite a few times, there is absolutely no indication on-air indication of the show's "hidden" religious agenda.

This is deplorable and equates to preying on vulnerable young people. These young people are already confused enough without being fed total garbage and lies making them feel even worse about themselves. It's shameful.

IIRC, I've also heard it on 93.3-WSNE.

Is this aired for the public service requirement?

They should air it 4-6AM on Sunday mornings, like every other station does to bury their required programming.

This program should be pulled IMMEDIATELY! One of America's premiere program directors, Sunny Joe White, co-founded KISS 108 FM and made it possible for it to be the monster station it is today! The tradition that is KISS 108 FM is intricately woven into the fabric of local culture! It's always celebrated diversity and inclusion through its music and personalities--that was its community mission. Sunny is no doubt rolling in his grave! Perhaps Matt and Billy, the last of the founding members at KISS, can lead the charge to kill the show and its harmful, exclusionary propaganda IMMEDIATELY! The programs syndication folks should call Grace Blazer at WTKK. This show will make a nice addition to the WTKK 96.9 FM weekend line-up!

So, if Boston didn't want to tune into Loveline, what would make people tune into this?

Most of the kiddies who tune in to Kiss 108 on Sunday night, past their bedtime on a school night, will not care about talk programming.

Why does that have to be "out of the demo" for talk stations? Why can't that BE the demo?

IIRC Matt didn't come on board until 1981. And didn't Costa join the program around 1986? Bill Rossi handled the news in the early days of Matty's show.

So when does Kiss 108 start airing Fox News Radio at the top of every hour? ::)

Actually, I don't think this show would make a nice addition to any lineup. It needs to be pulled from Kiss 108 before another kid is misguided. This works on lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender internalized oppression. These folks get pushed in that direction enough.

@DToTheJ, In addition to mornings, KISS 108 used to have a News and Traffic Update weekday afternoons during the Dale Dorman show with Matt Shafer and Hank Morris, that's when I was an intern there in the late 1990's :)
