Kiss 108 and older songs

I was looking at the playlist for Kiss 108 on kiss108.com and came across some older songs. They are Bon Jovi- Livin' on a Prayer (1986), Madonna- Like a Prayer (1989), Aerosmith- I Don't Want To Miss a Thing (1998), Three Dog Night- Joy to the World (1971), The Beatles- I Should Have Known Better (1964), Etta James- At Last (1961) and Phil Collins- Against All Odds (1984). Please tell me these songs are mistakes.

If this is true then Kiss 108 is airing 2 songs from the 60s, 1 song from the 70s, 3 songs from the 80s and I don't know how many 90s. Now let me ask has anyone heard these songs on Kiss 108? Since I live in Maine I hardly ever hear this station but I've heard Bon Jovi, Madonna and Aerosmith on Kiss 108. I wouldn't think a CHR would air these old songs though.

With the exception of the three you mentioned, I would venture to say it's mistake. My guess is that the songs that are in those positions on the KISS playlist were recorded in locally under numbers that CC Audio Distribution has designated for the songs that are showing up on the playlist and the program is looking at the master numbers and listing them as such.

As for them playing Bon Jovi, Madonna, and Aerosmith, have you seen their W 25-54 numbers? They seem to be doing things right! Although, Steve N. will claim they're a heavy metal station for playing Bon Jovi and Aerosmith, but I digress.
 
Kiss usually plays one gold title per hour in middays, and those include Bon Jovi and Madonna tunes still relevant to their older audience. They played the 14 year old "Always Be My Baby" on my way to work at 5:20 today, and I listened at full volume with the window down waiting in line on Storrow Drive.
 
they played Pras' "Ghetto Superstar" which is from 1998 the other day. Really refreshingly unexpected.

EttA James-At Last ? Kiss must had played Beyonce's " At Last"(Remake of Etta James Classic song).
 
Bon Jovi, Madonna and Aerosmith are currently in rotation on Kiss 108 (during locally programmed time). The others are not in regular rotation and could be showing up for a variety of reasons.

What, no gold classics from the hometown New Kids On The Block? ???
 
Living On A Prayer, Like A Prayer, and Don't Want To Miss a Thing were all songs that Kiss played heavily when new, and were given a ton of play as recurrents, and even now as gold.

I can almost bet that Kiss will still be playing Cascada's "Every Time We Touch" well into the next decade as this has become a real Kiss favorite, like the above 3.

I believe they finally stopped playing it some time ago. Too bad they no longer play it, it was about the only classy thing left at Kiss 108.

Did they always play the version by Rose Royce because I thought they started using the Cover Girls version of the same song at some point.
 
The "Wishing On A Star" tradition ended not long after Kid David Corey was fired back in 2006 (I believe). Also, I believe it was Uncle Dale Dorman, not Sunny Joe White, who started that tradition in the early 80s when he hosted the Saturday midday show.

I do get on Kiss 108 for not playing "real Kiss music" (i.e. Michael Jackson, Prince, Madonna, Janet Jackson, Kool and the Gang, Gap Band, and other artists of that genre). If anything, the "real Kiss music" should be played on Mix 104-1 on weekends ONLY (and, to a point, instead of the alt-rock and hair bands that Joe Cortese passes off as dance music every Friday night).
 
Now you're just making stuff up. At no point during "Back to the 80's" does Joe Cortese bill the program as being a "dance music" show. And if you actually bothered to listen, you'll find that he devotes plenty of airtime to the first three artists you cited.
 
Kiss 108 runs a tight list of deep gold that continues to test well. They have an older audience than most CHR's, and since they are successful they continue to do music testing. The Madonna, Aerosmith, Bon Jovi and Cascada must test through the roof or else they wouldn't play them.

That said, Kiss can do this because of the older skew of their audience, and keep in mind Matty is a big reason for that. Having sister station WJMN covering the younger demos doesn't hurt either. When Matty finally leaves or retires, Kiss will have to totally rethink their sound. I maintain that any competitor to Kiss will have a tough time going up against the heritage of both CC stations, but a Kiss with no Matty does change the landscape.
 
Why do people think Matty is untouchable? He's dull to listen to. How many times do I have to bring this up? Somebody at CBS/GM/Entercom give Joey McIntyre and Maria Menounos a show, and play the hits. Four share. Boom. Done.
