Kiss 108 Concert in the storm

I guess Kiss had their holiday concert Thursday night in Lowell.

A friend of mine who paid $150 for tix refused to let her daughter go, because of the storm.

She tells me she heard on the radio that many limo companies canceled out on people wanting to go to the show.

Granted that this was one of those acts of God, Should Kiss have postponed the show, if it was logistically possible? Or canceled altogether, refunding ticket costs to those who paid? Is this going to become a public relations problem for Kiss?

I guess the same could apply to the Boston Bruins,
who didn't cancel last night's game and only
had 1500 fans show up. Should the other people who had advance
tickets be entitled to a refund?

I could imagine that scene playing out all over the area!

Does anyone know how many people DID attend the concert?

According to the Lowell Sun, 5000 people showed up out of 6400 tickets sold.

The point about the Bruins playing is valid. They shoulda postponed, something that is hardly done in sports outsdie of Major League Baseball.

The fact that most people went to the concert even in the conditions that kept many people stuck in their cars for hours is a tad disturbing. It's not illegal, just not too smart.

Whatever. It's over. I hope we don't have a storm like that again for a while.

Well, like you said, that is a league decision, and is hardly ever done. (The game coulda been played, doesn't mean that they had to carry it on the radio during major emergency.)

However, at WBZ, there are some better decisions that coul've been made.

1.) Shift the games to another CBS station.....(Possibly WBCN(?)...which carries sports, unless it was deemed necessary to continue to play rock music.)

2.) Take some extended breaks from the game for some updates.

3.) Or at the very least, blow off the spots during the game and use those breaks for updates. (I don't know how many spot breaks occur during an hour of a Bruins broadcast and how long each stopset is...but those could've all been used for updates from the storm center.

4.) If there is some reason the game HAD TO stay on WBZ...Possibly announce that WODS would be carrying storm coverage? (Not a great choice, but a better one than the choice they did make.)

Abandoning all storm coverage for a Bruins game was not responsible broadcasting....but appears to re-enforce the mantra as to how radio stations are run today "IS ANYONE HOME AT THIS STATION?!?!?!"

I assume the anchor in the newsroom didn't have the authority to make such decisions...nor did the board-op.

Where was management?

Where was Peter Casey?

I listen to Matty In Morning on the web and happened to hear them mentioning how impossible it would have been to cancel the show. Primarily due to the number of acts involved.
