Kiss 93.9 and G105

I thought that was Shebel I've been hearing on 100.7! Never heard him say his name but I was pretty sure it was him.

I don't see how they can sustain this... 93.9 and 105.1 are just way too close in music. They are trying to squash Pulse before it gets off the ground, but I only see this backfiring.

Why is it necessarily a bad move?

I'm not sure why Kiss 93.9 exists in the first place or why Zac Davis doesn't just take up afternoons at G105 in place of Randi. It seems like a ridiculous move to keep both stations basically against each other and for Randi to leave Raleigh but continue to track afternoons on G instead of putting someone fresh, new and live/local there.

Clear Channel are the kings at blocking the smaller stations. They did the same in Norfolk in the early 2000's they used one of its stations and its big time Urban to "block" the much smaller competition and it worked.

Now in Raleigh I don't like the fact that they are using a 100kw station to do the "block".

I liked 93.9 with the "Movin" Format. It was something different.

Kiss may have the stronger signal, but IMO at the moment they sound comparatively cheap / weak to Pulse 102 with regards to everything else (on-air presentation, music and credibility, events / street presence, and especially marketing and advertising). Better coverage or not, you can tell which is run by Clear Channel. Maybe things will change, but be careful with this one. I think the Pulse may end up beating pretty strong.

On another note ... does anyone know if pulse has a solid schedule for the staff / presenters? I've heard a lot of different people on there at all times of the day and night but it seems like they rotate time slots a lot. Is this intentional and a new trend or are they still just getting things together?
