KISS 95.7 changing to 95.7 KISS-FM?

Too bad the station will still be ruined by Clear Channel. I don't think they've been frequency-first in name since May of 1989.

That's just idiotic generic haterade toward Clear Channel. Of all the CC Connecticut stations, KSS has suffered the least (along with Country 92.5) and there's no evidence that anyone could have done any better with it.

Well, they can't do any worse than KC101...

Nearly 25 years with the same branding... so if it supposedly isn't broke, why fix it, 95.7?

Yes, you're right. It just sucks how Clear Channel and CBS get to own so many stations in one market. I listen to my old airchecks and songs I recorded from people like WKSS-FM, WTIC-FM and WKCI-FM from 1987 to maybe the mid-90s. It was far more interesting when there was a local or semi-local aspect for the station in ownership. The old 96-TIC FM going for the proverbial throat of 95.7-KISS FM was awesome!

Getting back to 2012: How many people at WKCI-FM today are local, doing their show in Connecticut? John Mayer? Anybody? Also, their sound processing doesn't sound too good these days either. I barely listen to WKSS-FM anymore and won't listen when their syndicated crap with Ryan Seacrest is on. I can't speak for WWYZ-FM 92.5, because I don't listen to them (I've never been a fan of country music either).

OK...I'm done. I've vented and feel better now. :)

I think KISS 95-7 sounds great, but KC 101 sounds like garbage, with the audio quality of a low bitrate stream. Are they trying to sound like an AM station?

The other thing wrong with KC 101.3 is the syndicated Elvis Duran morning show. While I'm certainly not fan of Seacrest (on 95.7 KISS-FM), I'd rather listen to Seacrest's show than the Elvis Duran show. I think it's time to move NewsTalk 960 WELI to FM. Then move ESPN from 1300 to 960 and plug in a Premium Choice music service on 1300.

If I understand you correctly, you're suggesting Clear Channel should blow up a heritage money-making CHR because it has a syndicated morning show, and replace it with a talk format that's only local in the morning and syndicated the rest of the day?

I'll go ahead and disagree with you on that one, wholeheartedly. Audio quality only matters to audiophiles and radio nerds. Your everyday 25-54 KC101 listener doesn't care.

I think Reelyreal hopes that with a big FM signal, that WELI would have more local dayparts than just morning drive.

If it were owned by anyone other than Clear Channel, maybe.

But Clear Channel?? Probably not. In fact, WELI-960's one local daypart, whether the station is moved to/simulcast on FM or not, could soon be replaced by a syndicated show anyway.

Oh give me a break- Country 92.5 went right down the drain when Clear Channel bought it.... In the early 2000's they would throw in a random pop song here and there--- it was terrible.... They were known to play that love me love me.... tease me tease me song--- by the kardigans I think??? On country 92.5..... Sorry--- wrong Genre--- I called and complained about it several times saying that was not a country song and to stop playing it---- ridiculous--- Clear channel has absolutely killed Radio- they are the devil... Everything they touch turns to crap....!

Country 92.5 didn't make any money until they were bought by Clear Channel's predecessor. That being said I believe CC's KIX 100.9 in Springfield is a better station.
