KISS 95.7

Most people on here seem to knock KISS alot. While I agree the DJ's and overall sound isn't as good as 10 years ago, the music is what I'd expect and the station as a whole seems to do fine with its target audience. Most every girl I know 12 to 30 listens primarily to KISS and many rap/hiphop listeners that I know switch to KISS quite often whether they admit it or not. I'm not quite sure that this board captures a cross section of listeners and I'm not even sure the ratings do either. I'd say I hear KISS on more radios up here in Springfield than I do any other station except for maybe Mix 93.1. I personally don't like all rap and hiphop and most CHR's are too alternative and slow. KISS plays a real good mix of the popular music and leans toward the popular hiphop and dance songs. I enjoy them way more than KC101 and even more than KISS in Boston. And I'm pretty sure that the typical listener (such as my wife) has no idea that their overall sound isn't as good as it used to be. They still listen for the music they like and KISS still plays it. In today's market where streamlining and cutbacks are so typical, I think KISS has maintained what they do best despite downsizing, and I think they are still one of the best stations in CT and MA combined.

"Justalistener" sounds more like more than that, and he's right about the opinions on this board having little to do with a true cross section of listeners. The fact that Hot gets more comments here than Kiss has little to do with the real world.

Just like radio stations have their audiences, so do radio message boards. They skew young, and want music that's more adventurous than most Top 40 stations offer. Kiss delivers the hits, and there are plenty of people who listen for that. It's true that their jock really suck, and the imaging is a shell of what it was back in the 90's, but they do the job. Look, Hot's jocks don't blow me away either, but they're on point musically with the most vocal posters on this board. They deliver the younger demos for CBS, even though their billing leaves much to be desired.

If the two stations were under the same corporate umbrella the way Kiss 108 and Jam'n 94.5 are in Boston, they'd be an unbeatable combo. Considering that CBS has both Hot and TIC-FM clipping at Kiss's heels, it's remarkable that 95.7 still pulls decent numbers at this point.
