Kiss-FM #1 18-34

http://www.suntimes.com/business/lazare/2540934,CST-NWS-lew28.article

The article also explains the lengths that Kiss-FM will go to in order to relate to the 18-34 demographic, including, for example:

"To help WKSC talent fine-tune their on-air talk, the station has created a character called Katie, who represents the core listener that hosts are asked to think about as they talk to and connect with their respective audiences."

I wonder who plays the role of "Katie." Or is she automated?

DtotheJ: You made me realize something with your katie comment, is it just me, or is radio becoming more and more sillier by the day, if what your saying is true, I just can't believe what I'm reading......

Nah, she's the granddaughter of "Edna from Palatine" who listens to WGN. ;D

Creating a target listener is nothing new. In the 80s we had a jock meeting and cut out photos from magazines of who we thought we were talking to. It helped. Next book we were up a share then the next. This was before narrowcasting.
