It's been quiet on here lately, so I figured I'd comment on a couple of observations I noticed when I got the pleasure of traveling west to the Shoals area on business the past couple of days. I got a chance to listen to 102.7 Kiss FM for a few hours. I noticed a HUGE improvement musically. They sounded the best I have ever heard them sound. It seems they have steered away from the rhythmic lean/play everything approach they had been going for and are now a very focused mainstream CHR station. It is very hit driven with a heavy current lean. I only heard 2 or 3 recurrents an hour, and they were all good solid hits. Before, I could only listen for a few minutes before I had to change the channel, but I listened to them for about 2 1/2 hours strait without feeling the need to look elsewhere. The old school lunch was fantastic, though I still don't really get why its at 11am instead of noon. If you are a CHR and you want to do a good TRUE back in the day lunch hour, you should stream this station and check out the song selection. It was excellent. The imaging was very good, as usual. Much better than the new Kiss FM in Huntsville. The artist drops were awesome and actually lead into a song from that artist. I did find it kinds strange that traffic breaks in the morning from Jerry James included updates on Huntsville traffic, even though Kiss FM doesn't have a signal in Huntsville pretty much at all (though I wish they had). I also heard spots for Huntsville clubs a couple of times as well. There were still a couple of things that bothered me though, such as the jock on the air stomping all over the end of every song he did a break after (even ones that ended cold to begin with), and the transitions weren't very tight sometimes. I still don't understand why, but all the jocks (even Elvis Duran morning show) still have a bad echo in their mics. Even breaks from remotes. Sounds like they are in a cave! Very annoying. But, other than that it was a solid sounding CHR and the current changes deserved praise and recognition. Keep it up guys!

They're running reverb in the chain. When I first heard it I thought, hey that's neat, but pretty quickly I got burned out because it changes the sonic nature of everything going out over the air.

Ah, I see. Yeah I agree. They need to fix that.
