What's even more amazing is that KISS FM is barely over 3,000 watts in power. The fact of the matter is, the flip from FLY's heritage standings to KISS's basis for domination was inevitable. With Rob Dawes at the helm for Clear Channel after over a decade of working from within ABC and CHR inexperience in control for FLY, this should be no surprise.
Mainstream CHR buffs will tell you that now is a great time for their format with big hits ranging from Lifehouse and 3 Doors Down to Backstreet Boys and D.H.T that balance the dominant success of more urban tracks. Get real! Rhythmnic CHR appeals to it's audience because each record fits within the expectations of everything before it and after. After Mainstream and Rhythmic made their splice in the mid-90's, being all over the road became less appealing for extended listening.
For Top 40 listeners in the Capital Region, FLY 92 has become a second choice preset. It's time for them to start spending more time hanging out within their demographic.
