Is Adam Smasher in some part of programming or production as well since he only has a two hour shift. It seems kind of pointless to have a two hour shift. Although that whole schedule looks kind of messed up. It seems like most stations would have done something like this with 6 shifts:

5-9a Drex
9-12noon Adam Smasher
12-3p Nikki
3-7p Tic Tak
7-11p Mack
11-3a Smash

they really don't need 6 shifts, 5 would be more appropriate

So it turns out that my business partner, Rob, heard the tryout shift on a Sunday night a week ago. We were wondering if it was going to be their new night show, and we now know that it is the afternoon show. Nikki just didn't seem to be able to cut it against B96's Roxane.

Its funny that Kiss, who constantly poke fun of Stylz and Roman, brought in a show that is so reminiscent of S&R. Today I caught about 30 seconds of it while switching to my Sirius receiver, and they were taking calls from teenage girls asking them if they were single or not. What a bore. And what's with the odd lineup? Does it have anything to do with some of the talent being aired in other markets? Just curious..

Not to seem like I'm kissin the thread starters ass, but Kiss lost when it got rid of Java Joel. He was the only thing worth listening to on that miserable station. It really makes the $120 a year I pay for satellite all the more worth it.

Also, what's with the fake names. I mean, everybody has fake names in radio, but: Tic Tak, Stick, Limy, Mack, Smash Adam Smasher, Drex? LOL WTF?

The greater question might be how they plan to sell this, since it falls off of arbitrons clock and they already have money issues...

I'm pretty sure it had nothing to do with Roxanne's numbers. Anyone off the street could put on a sexy voice and say "B96 Commercial free Hourrrr"

Yeah, Asher Benroubi (Adam Smasher) would be a great radio name. His son plays the desk attendant on "ER."

Re: Fake Name

Some people in radio also use a psuedonym to protect their identities from crazy listeners and stalking lunatics. I had my share of stalkers, even at my college station of Energy 88.7 WLUW. They would find you at every remote appearance you do, then cling to you like you're their exclusive boyfriend/girlfriend.

Here's one of many stalker stories: I had to spin an alternative dance set at Riviera Nightclub ("A Tony Bitoy Production"). After I had grabbed the mike to introduce myself and hype up the crowd, this creepy girl stood next to the DJ booth, followed me whenever I went to the washroom, and followed me back. She wanted to know my real name, where I lived, how old I was, the whole thing. She was very insistent. I tried to avoid her, but it was hard when you're the DJ and the most visible person in the room. She tried to wait for me when the nightclub closed for the night, but thankfully, the bouncer escorted her out. However, the next time I was on the air, she called me several times in her most husky and 'sexy' voice and asking me, "Do you know where I am?" Creepy.

Could you imagine if you were a female air personality? I'm sure they get their share of crazy men.

Some listeners from Energy 88.7, though they're quite tame, even called me through all the other stations I worked at, including my brief gig at 103.7 KISS-FM in Milwaukee last year. I just can't shake them.

I hate to say it, but it was something I did when I was younger, mostly calling up jocks frequently, women jocks in particular--I never did the stalking at personal appearances thing. I basically just wanted to talk about the business, since I wanted to get into it, but I can understand how some jocks feel about that sort of thing, especially when it is the type who only want to get into their pants.

Yep, there's stalkers, and then there's fans. Sometimes that line gets a little blurry. It looks like JD even had groupies... LOL :)

Reminds me of Play Misty For Me and this one movie I saw on Lifetime called Requium For Murder.

Scary.

If I get in radio I'm definately going to use a fake on air name.<P ID="signature">______________

I gave these guys a call this afternoon because I had nothing else better to do.

They asked me "Why do you think you're God's gift to woman?"

The answer: I'm not. Never had a girl, never will. But I wasn't gonna tell them that.

So I told them "I have really good hair" (really didn't know what else to say. Plus I thought I'd take a shot at Stylez & Roman)

And they were like "That's why you're not getting any girls dude" and hung up.

I haven't stopped laughing since.

This show should do fine. Fits the target audience well. <P ID="signature">______________

Re: Fake Name

Well, he hasn't told you about the male ones yet, LOL! JK! Luckily, none of these instances turned out like the ending to Oliver Stone's classic, "TALK RADIO." =)

Although JD does bring up a relevant point, it should also be noted that there are jocks, unlike JD, that are just as guilty of picking people up off the listener request lines, events/promotions, e-mails, et cetera, who are guilty of putting themselves in that awful position to begin with. Anyone working in radio has seen this happen far too often!

You make your bed, so be careful how you make it, since you're going to have to sleep in it!

Jammerz, remember the night with Tommy Knight after Club Jam? LOOOOOOOOL!<P ID="signature">______________

Re: Fake Name

ROTFLMAO!

She sounded hot on the phone, and Tommy (who was a guest co-host on our dance mixshow) asked her to come down to the station to hook up after the show ends at 2am. Lo and behold, this BIG woman with a NASTY face showed up at the door. Rob and I barely contained our laughter because it was obvious that she was not what he pictured her! Tommy, who I must admit was a good sport, still left with her. I have NO idea what happened after that.

Ladies and Gentlemen, let this be a lesson to you (especially if you're going to be in radio): a sexy voice does not usually come with a sexy bod.

My lesson was different. After my first few months on the air, I asked out a listener and she turned out to be a flirty kitten if you know what I mean. We had our fun for a while, but the relationship ended in a psychotic way. I then promised myself to never date a listener ever.

The flirtations with anonymous listeners are fun and great, but there is a line that really should not be crossed.

LOL!

With B96 as their primary competition and the target of their on-air ire, you can't tell me that B96 is one of their utmost targets and goals. Taking a look at the trends for the past year, the ratings proved to be incentive for Kiss to do something as well.

I have not heard the afternoon show yet, but they are obviously thinking that personality will win some numbers. As long as the 5 o'clock hour continues to bring in great numbers for B96, I'll be interested to see how Kiss' experiment works out.

I think I read a story on Radio-Info, or maybe another radio board... I don't know if it was true or not, but damn it, if I ever get around to writing a movie or tv script about radio, I'm stealing it:

A young jock at his first job is asked by his boss how things were going. The jock says, "It's been going well and I've been following the advice you have on the sign in the studio."

The boss says, "What do you mean?"

The jock says, "I've been making sure I laugh when I'm on the air."

The boss is confused.

The jock says, "Your sign on the wall in the studio--D.F.T.L. Don't forget to laugh!"

The boss starts laughing hysterically. When he finally can catch his breath, he says, "Kid, that means don't f**k the listeners!"
