KISS & JAMZ rebounded, HOT down big time

KISS & JAMZ rebounded big time and has proven what I've been saying for the longest about HOT 107.7. It just seems that Birmingham is not ready for the hot urban adult contemporary format, and the #s & revenue is very evident of that. HOT has fallen so much since the last book that now WAGG is billing more and beating them in key demos such as 25-54. Citadel has dropped the ball with this flamethrower signal literally.

I've haven't been in Birmingham for a while to hear it for myself, but is Hot 107.7 trying to re-create the sound WENN had when they were on 107.7, as well as other R&B stations had before converting to mostly hip-hop?

You're right about sound of the pre-hip hop Urban Contemporary stations of HOT. I've said for the longest that this station wouldn't work because those days as of all R&B stations are gone. If the HOT 107.7 wants to beat the Cox urbans and survive financially. They going to need to drop Baisden and focus 25-54 or 18-34 and add some current hip hop. <P ID="signature">______________

I get what everyone is saying and I agree. But what bothers me is how stations like Hot, the former Power 93 in Huntsvegas, and V-103 here in the shoals start out playing relentless hip-hop and rap with a few R&B'ers mixed in, then they morphed into everybody's warm and fuzzy all-R&B station. I just don't get that progression and how confusing that is to their listeners. I don't know about everyone else, but its hard for me to transition from Lil Jon to Luther Vandross.
