KISS memo

Hi all...as everyone is aware, CBS owned KBKS will be joining our group here sometime in March or at the latest by April 1st. I wanted to let everyone know that Eric Powers will be taking on the Program Director duties for this station in addition to his KUBE Program Director duties. Eric brings tremendous programming skills and an incredible work ethic to this job and I have total faith in his ability to build on KUBE's amazing long-term success and dominant brand, while at the same time helping KBKS maximize it's heritage and reach new ratings heights. Please join me in congratulating Eric on his additional duties and new role!

Michele Grosenick
VP/Market Manager
Clear Channel Radio Seattle

Not a big ole surprise. I was hoping Marcus D might get another shot :-\ Not unexpected with Clear Channel cutting. Have heard Powers is a good guy and hell my pal John Ivey is programming the entire LA cluster so two stations won't be spit to Powers, but will he stay on the air ??? Programming ain't easy and most PD's who have airshifts can't get it all done, especailly with two blowtorches to run :p

Out of curiosity, does this mean once Clear Channel takes over, will the imaging/branding/logo of KBKS be changed to be more in-line with the other CC-owned KISS stations (Like KIIS in Los Angeles)?

Instead of "KISS 106.1", i'm imagining it'll become "106.1 KISS-FM", with the blue-ball logo.

Guessing you don't live in Seattle...it's been 106-1, KISS-FM for over a year now....as for the blue-ball...not all CC Kiss station use it...not even close, Chicago, Dallas, and in fact, KIIS-FM/LA are among the "updated" Kiss logos in use by CC..

Thanks for correcting me...*oops* Yes I do live here, but never paid much attention to that station since that's not my kind of music.

what does it mean for the 2 stations clear swap here who will program them also will eric changed format on kiss or stick same format

I believe this thread has been played before. Clear Channel has several markets that have two CHR's. I suspect KUBE will stay rhythmic and KBKS will be Mainstream. KBKS has already began the move to more syndicated product which seems to be a Clear Channel initiative. Having PD's handle multiple stations is also fairly common in Clear Channel major markets. Some PD's handle more than one market like LA and San Diego or SF and LA. Very common.

And having some CC managers oversee more markets within an expanded region will become reality very soon.
