KISS radio personality retires

FROM THE KISS Country website:

http://wkis.com/index.php?page=149

Thank you so much for listening for the past 6 years!!

I've decided to take a break from radio for a while....so it's with mixed emotions that I tell you that I'll be leaving Kiss Country. My last day will be Sunday December 23rd.

The past 6 years have been so much fun...and I've enjoyed talking with you on the phone... meeting you and playing your favorite songs. I'll still be dancing at Roundup....and maybe you'll hear me again sometime in the future....but for now....it's goodbye.

Once again, Thanks for listening and I hope you have the best holidays ever!!

Johnny Dark

Johnny is a 40 year veteran of the radio business with a great career ranging with stops including WSRF - Ft. Laud, WOKY - Milwaukee, WMXQ - Miami, WRKO - Boston, WNBC - NY, Coast 97.1 - Miami and finally WKIS - Miami. He's been a PD, station owner and incredible air talent, as well as a fantastic person!

Johnny is a great talent, with a great voice. He has been around for years. He was a legend at WRKO and WNNNBC. WHile he was at the Coast, I remember his sitting in with Fat Rich and The Bird during Neil Rogers heyday on WIOD.

Johnny is a great guy from the email chats that we've had. Few know that Johnny's connection to South Florida radio goes back even further than Coast 97. I remember him when he was PD of WSRF AM/FM. WSRF never sounded better.

In my original post I mentioned WSRF. That was a great sounding radio station and helped launch many successful on-air personalities. In addition I listed WMXQ, which should have been WMYQ - Miami.

Johnny Dark: a true gentleman & a die-hard radio guy. Nice to have contact with him! If you get this, send me your non-Coast address. Paul Sidney sends his regards, too!
