What wasn't mentioned in the first post is the reason Ms. Beasley is leaving her post: she will remain with WRKS in a consultant role, but will continue to oversee the all-gospel "Kiss Inspirations" HD-2 channel.
While I hope she finds success in her new position, I'm hoping that with her gone Kiss can reduce some of the contemporary gospel music it currently has in its playlist. Maybe I'm in the minority, but I feel that it really has no place on a secular Urban A/C. If it's on a specialty program, then fine. Just not mixed within the regular rotation.
I turn the sound down when I hear a gospel cut on Kiss; if I want to hear that music, I'll turn to WLIB. Speaking of which, I'm real surprised Ms. Beasley didn't end up going there, since her mission seemed to be gradually coverting WRKS into a contemporary gospel station. She could have had a ready-made situation with WLIB and I'm certain she would have made it work. But I somehow doubt Inner City Broadcasting would have paid her as much or more than Emmis is.
