If I had to guess at it then I would guess that KISS-XM & MIX-XM will sound more like a typical KISS or MIX Clear Channel station (with the tighter playlists that actually include more of today's hits rather than the hits of 1 to 10 years ago). Further guessing on my part would indicate that XM-HITLIST would sound exactly like KISS-XM sounds right now (loose and recurrent playlist), and FLIGHT-26 would sound exactly like MIX-XM sounds right now.

I guess we'll all find out in just about a week !

That's what I'm guessing too. I haven't seen any indications that they plan on dropping the current formats in favor of simulcasting two of their FM stations. I think the formats and names will remain as they are, with a few commercials being added in.

I really would like to see KIIS. The jukebox format is wearing me down. The one thing that terrestrial radio (especially Clear Channel) has over XM is the personality and attitude ther jocks bring throughout the day. The music and presentation change throughout the day and it helps get through the work day. With a lot of the XM channels there is absolutely no difference if it is noon or midnight. At first, I thought that was great, but no longer. With commercials aside, I find that I enjoy commercial radio more than I used to.
Go figure.

I actually enjoy the 'jukebox' effect. My favourite CHR-POP station is actually '20 On 20'. But then I like competition as well. KISS-XM (in its present state) is not competition to '20 On 20'. KISS-XM is a 'Best Of The Top 40 Hits Of The Past 10 Years' station. A station like Clear Channel's KIIS or WHTZ would be true competition to '20 On 20', and I would probably listen to both stations equally.

I really hope Hit List isn't KISS minus commercials, and that Flight 26 isn't Mix minus commercials. Quite frankly, both stations bore me, with plain vanilla playlists and no personality to speak of. The Hot AC format has the potential to be so interesting, but Mix seems only to care about ramming the same freakin' Avril Lavigne song into the ground, missing hundreds of awesome songs that fit the formatics, and KISS only focuses on recurrents that I'm long tired of. As for Top 20 on 20, there is definetely potential, but I think the continuous countdown format needs to be blown up. A current-based CHR, complete with energetic personalities (see Sirius Hits 1) would work wonders here. I know I'd listen.

I like the nearly-continuous countdown format of '20 On 20'. I say 'nearly' because every two hours they do the countdown for about 75 minutes, and then they play a lot of new and emerging CHR-POP hits for the remaining 45 minutes (with a few recurrent hits sprinkled in). It's a pretty good CHR-POP mix for me.

As far as the current-based CHR (complete with energetic personalities) is concerned I'm all for it - and that's what I'm hoping the new Clear Channel KISS-XM is going to convert over to whether they simulcast WHTZ, KIIS, or are their own unique station. I just hope they play today's hits and not the hits of 1997 to 2005 like KISS-XM does now.
