kiss / z101 ?

i wish some station ( either kiss, or 101) would set it up to have a
live to air party, on an off nite...say, wed or thursday.

A few hours on a wed. night ( say, 10pm -1am). It would
be just for the summer, and could be by a talent, that is
qualified, but doesnt see alot of air time, so the novelity
wouldnt wear off.

Even if the same music is being played, say during the
z,top 9(if that is still on?!) or the kiss ten at ten....it will
be more exciting to hear the music blended together, and
extended club mixes, presented from this *PARTY* radio show,
versus the the same ol' *yawn* radio edits,
and the exact same *humDrum* front/back sells.

just a thought.

Does the 7 o'clock spinoff count? if so, it doesn't sound very good. by the way, does anyone know why every single song in the 11pm hour is canadian on z101? is that a canadian law or is universal just trying to meet the canadian content law by playing it all in one hour instead of through the day. just curious and observing.

can-con, currently 35 %
it is *EASY* to nail it all in one hour.

i believe the 35% is from 6am - midnite.

sooo,
18 hours, say, 11-13 songs per hour
equals about 200 songs or so. this means
70 "must be" from the north; there fore,
(follow me here!) . . . during that 11pm hour,

approx. 18% (of the required 35%) is filled right there!
leaving, 5 songs, per hour, for 18 hrs, thru out the day,
to fulfill the requirement. ( that translates into a nice 'mix' of
music u wanna / have to play).

5 per hour?
this may average a ratio: 3:1

anyways, my original post here, was very detailed of how to pull off,
a wed/thurs. nite party, *dont want to insult anyone, lol - but another thing:
club DJs, etc - most likely have off on a wed, furthering, the talent pool
to pick from - - for a weeknite party on either z101, or k98.

* i listened to z103, toronto, and WOW - yes, the music was very niche,
but it glued me to my radio, for the whole freeekin nite!!! why ? cuz it wasnt
(dj-yack, song,song,commercial, big id, song, song, dj yack! )
it was a party !!

Does Z101 have an all Canadain countdown on the week-end? That would help free up later timeslots for more American music...

NO.

at this time, it has been reported, they are NOT interested,
in *yet* another countdown...either a in house production;
or a national ( say, mc-mario/ louie devuella(?sp) .

so, NO. countdown's on the weekend's dont help the
can-con..issue

I believe that currently there is one wednesday night party that might sound good on the air. The Daily Planet. I am going to guess that since their DJ has no talent in mixing or no live to air experience neither 101 or 98.5 are willing to comprimise the quality of programming. In the case of 101 I am not sure that the quality would really be comprimised though. I would like to see possibly some of the weekend staff do a mid week live show. Possibly Drakhar or DJ Gates on 101. Does 98.5 have a mix show Dj they can turn to for these kind of shows??
