Kiss

Re: Kiss, uh, sort of...

Hey, ya never know.

I heard Val ramble on for over two minutes at some auto dealer the other day before I finally hit the button and switched to Q107 in Toronto. I heard a song and a half, then they went into one of their two minute breaks. I hit the 'HTT button again, and they were STILL in a stopset. What the Hell is THAT all about?

It sure wouldn't fly with the attention span of today's 12-34s.

Damn it, now I'M turning this back into a 104 thread!

as if citadel would let val go to entercom, ha!

The reality is, Entercom doesn't seem to be in hiring mode. Just look at what Entercom is doing these days. At Star, they turned over the night slot to Kim Iverson, a really bad chick show from Austin that Entercom runs on about a half dozen of their FMs. It's a weak version of Delilah for younger demos, thrown together to save the expense of paying night jocks' $26 thousand salaries on various Entercom FMs. There've been better shows during summer session on WBNY.

I grew up in WNY and remember Kiss sounding so fresh and hot all the time. Now when I listen to it online, it sounds so blah blah. I compare Kiss Buffalo to the Kiss where I live in phoenix. They do a club mix in pm drive, club mix at night, have hot personalities who can relate to the chr listener. I just think its time to brighten Kiss up. Maybe cause they don't have any competition, they sound so blah. I know here in phoenix, Kiss has to compete with two other stations Jamz and Power so possibly that helps the imaging as well.

AZ, it could be that Phoenix is a hotter market than Buffalo in more ways than one. The median age of the Buffalo market is probably closer to 36 than it is to 26, which makes a big difference, especially for the way CHR's and Urban CHR's do their act and why Kiss may sound more "adult CHR" than it did ten years ago.

This is reflected in your astute observation about Kiss sounding hotter years ago when you lived in Buffalo. Now you're older and so is the median age of Western New Yorkers. Could be another reason that Star, Kiss' sister, pulls big numbers Women 25-54. All them one time Kiss listeners have "'growed up a bit." Hmmmm... my theory may be moot if you tell me the geezers in Glendale and Sun City have skewed the median age to be older than that of Buffalo.

And it looks like this 45-54 demo house painter might have proven his earlier post about not being interested in posting about Kiss a tad off base. OK, I'll get busy writing about WHTT, WGRF and WBEN.

Hey, Hank Nevins is doing a great job on WBEN Saturday mornings... 97 Rock sounds great this weekend and that Mix Flashback Weekend doesn't sound too bad either... wasn't that WYRK promotion Friday night at Dunn Tire Park great... wonder how Q-107's short stopset thing is working out...

That should do it.

Compared to what? Toronto's Jack?

I won't speak for AZ, but I understand there is a demand (of some sort) for a station that sounds alot like Toronto's Z 103 to be present in Buffalo.

AZ: Have a listen to Toronto's Z 103 and compare it with your Kiss in Phoenix...feel free to continue to view things as you will.
