KISS's 12+ ratings to lowest point in 2 years

KISS 95.7's 12+ ratings are now to their lowest point in 2 years looking at the most recent data released today.

Now, granted 12+ means nothing, but it's hard to believe they did very well in their target demos with WZMX, WTIC, and WPHH all taking a good piece in the 12+ numbers....all better then KISS.

Time for a new PD. That won't play the songs 124 times a week.

They sound even WORSE than they did in April...
Any predictions for the spring book?

has anybody heard that kiss me or kiss whatever contest they are doing? wtf??? ???

I'm not a huge top 40 fan, but I decided to listen to Kiss and KC101 to see what everybody is talking about. Kiss seems to be leaning more rhythmic while KC is more alternative leaning. Both stations seem to be throwing in recurrents more appropriate to their leans. Both stations have dead seagues with no jock breaks or any imaging. KC101 seems to have a LITTLE more variety but that really depends on what kind of hits you are looking for. I don't see the big deal of whats going on here. I understand CC cut back how much imaging stations can have, but it sounds like one of them will be making some changes just by the lack of presentation/creativity in the near future. You can't sell a station without life. Just my observations.

I wouldn't say that KC 101 is alt. leaning. I still hear some dance , hip hop, and r&b.
Yes they play Fall out Boy and Red Jumpsuit but, listen to any GOOD chr and you'll see they all do.
In my opinion KC 101 is a better station overall much hipper and easy to listen to perhaps cause they don't pitch songs up 8.3% and they do have a pretty good mix and the dj's aren't as annoying and they have all been around for a while so they seem to think and act like their audience.
The only dj at kiss thats been around for a while is Courtney and let's all be honest...It's probably time for her to retire.
The whole OH MY GAWWWD! thing is sooo old.Why does she yell EVERYTIME she interviews a person or takes a call? She comes off like a bitter lady who lives in a house full of cats that is so desperate to find a man to make out with that she'll do just about ANYTHING.
Speaking about make out...WHAT THE HELL IS THIS" WHO DO YOU WANNA KISS "contest??
I don't know too many 25 to 34 yr. old ladies who wanna go on a radio station and see how many times they can say "I wanna kiss Brad Pitt" are you serious???LMAO!!
aHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.
Hey Man Priest...Please steal a bit from let's say 2001 to present.
you must have been sooo totally awesome in the 1980's

I think it's safe to say WTIC FM is now Hartford's Top 40 again. They're picking up all the new hits way before Kiss. Does Kiss even play Amy Winehouse at all? WTIC FM is becoming more like a European Top 40... well how a European Top 40 sounded 5-6 months ago, but better than nothing. It's happening right before our eyes, WTIC is becoming Hartford's contemporary station again.

- TIC is not a Top 40 by any stretch
- Amy Winehouse isn't much of a CHR song
- KISS is playing "Lip Gloss" right now.......but won't play "Before He Cheats" or "Hey There Delilah"?
- Why are all of WKSS's contests sound like they come out of the 80s?

As far as CHR's go in Connecticut:

Kiss 95.7....some stations classified CHR/Rhythmic play more pop and rock product then they do. The heritage of the station has been completely destroyed in one year. They're late on hits (Big Girls Don't Cry, for example) and beat rhythmic songs no one else is playing to death (She's Like The Wind). The station was very balanced and sounded all around great before Stan Priest, and you can't blame corporate because Kiss 108 and Z100 aren't doing the stuff that KSS is. Courtney is Courtney, "Justin Sane" couldn't jock a Oldies station, Munchie is slightly above average and Skillet is a bit of a loose cannon.

KC101.3 is okay. Their music choices are decent...but they have a lot of trainwreck segues and are kind of all over the place....without a lot of focus. The jocks are subpar with the exception of Trey, who belongs in a much bigger market, and voicetracking Jagger just doesn't cut it. Their voiceguy isn't that good, and their imaging seems kinda stale. They sound better musically then Kiss.

Q105 in New London is alright. Musically they're late on a lot of songs, and kind of play safe. None of the jocks (with the exception of the night jock) are very entertaining, they sound like they're all out of college... even Kevin Palana isn't that good. They're bland and stale...which is the only reason WWRX has been able to make such a big dent in their ratings in a very white, conservative (for New England) area. They've never been the same without Franco, and I doubt they will be without a rejuvenation.

I98 in Willimantic is a good small-town CHR, which is something that couldn't always be said. There were stretches where they were painful to listen to because they were downright awful. Musically they're right on top of the hits (sometimes early) and very balanced. The morning and midday guys aren't neccessarily good CHR fits, but Keith in the afternoon belongs in a larger market and the night jock is a rising star.

I don't get the opportunity to listen to 98Q so I don't know what they're like...but I do get the 4 above stations at my house and that's how I feel about them.

I-98 afternoon jock belongs in a bigger market???
Maybe he could get there if he wasn't writing posts on radio-info...
Nice one ... LOL

ctradiomoron makes some good points..

As for 98Q seeing how I live in Danbury, is all over the place as well. They WERE at Hot AC and are inching closer and closer to top 40 everyday. It sounds MUCH more like a top 40 these days with their new Z100-like imaging, which sounds great. They still, however seem to have an identity crisis but I MIGHT choose them over the other top 40s here in CT. I usually tune into K104.7 since I can pick that up here.

KC101 I keep saying is alternative leaning. No other stations are playing Red Jumpsuit and Augustana with THAT many rotations. They are doing the same with the rock hits that KISS is doing with the rap. As far back as I can remember, KISS always had a rhythmic lean of some sort, this is nothing new.

Playing devil's advocate here for a moment. I love the posts here downing KISS and their ratings. Look at KC101 who I recall was BEAT by KISS in their OWN market. Why isn't there a post on here about that? I'd HIGHLY believe there is more danger and need of help in New Haven these days than Hartford for this reason. One station might sound better, absolutely, but the public obviously doesn't think so. I understand 12+ numbers don't mean much, but you can't tell me the demos are that much different with the slump numbers KCI has. Personality wise, they have two jocks who have/do work in NYC which is no excuse for the slump they are in. I personally love Jagger, but that's just my opinion...Any thoughts?

Yeah, I actually like the music much better on KISS than KC101 and I actually think alot of their demo may as well. KISS plays the rhythmic songs I want to hear without all the ones I don't want to hear (Hot 93.7). And that Carrie Underwood song I keep seeing mentioned, I just heard it for the first time and never ever want to hear it again. I'm glad KISS doesn't play it!!! If KISS could just get a better DJ or two I'd be satisfied. I don't think the average listener notices much else that's wrong.

I've got no connection with I98...I actually used to work at WQGN

only one of the best female testing records out there...and KISS is supposed to be a female-targeted station. so how are they doing the right thing by pleasing you?

Funny that you mention that because Keith has worked IN major markets, did a stint as late nights at Q102 in philly and worked in NJ and other large marketss

Thanks for the compliments, and I too can attest that yes...Keith definitely belongs in a bigger market.
