KISW $10000 Giveaway!

I was looking over the entries in KISW's Make BJ's Commercial contest and some of them are pretty darn good.

http://www.kisw.com/listingsentry.asp?id=480755&pt=features

They got well over 100 submissions, and it seems to me it is a very cost effective use of advertising money if you are going to create a television commercial. Where else in this world could a station buy that many unique produced 24 second commercials for $10000?

If they get 10 that are professional enough to use, they got a bargain return on those dollars.

Fresh idea if you ask me, and I think the winner will be played during an Episode of "24" on Q13 which is very popular show to run a spot. Seems like a win win for everyone.

Good idea? Yes.

Fresh? Not so sure about that.

It was done for the Super Bowl.

And what amazes me is the rotation count on that Chevy spot .... bet part of the contest deal was signing anyway any kind of residual payments by the creative team!!

There are also many great BudLite spots on the 'net that didn't make air for Super Bowl. Amazing they have all that $$ to go ahead and produce spots and say .... "uh, never mind ...." !!!

I never even thought of that, but you are so right. It is a wonder it wasn't a CBS Station that thought of it first ;D

It's a wonder a CBS station didn't think of it first?!? Original?!?! You people call yourself radio nerds, but you must have missed KBKS doing the EXACT SAME FRIGGIN THING less than 5 months ago. The last thing BJ (let alone their programming, marketing, promotion or sales departments) could ever be is original.

Here's what likely happened. BJ and his show never listened to Kiss, and they copied it from the Super Bowl.

So what if BJ did the same thing? By your "original" logic, once a promotional idea has been done, no one else can use it. Ever.

Get a grip of yourself and can the feigned outrage.

I'm not saying no one can ever use it...i'm just saying have some creativity and do something that hasn't been done in the market within the last 6 months. Any smart marketing director knows whats going on at other stations in the market reguardless if they compete or not. So someone in that building should of said to themselves "hey, didn't another station in the market just do this? Will we come off as being stale?". My answer to those questions is yes...And you are the one who needs to calm down buddy. It wasn't a rip at you so dont get your panties in a wad.

It's good that you bring that up, because the number of people that Kiss and KISW share is enormous. ::)

I'm cool as a cucumber, Sport. You're the one dependent on using capital letters in posts to make your point.
