KISW Men's Room - More Ads & Music ?

So....I used to LOVE the Men's room. I could leave Seattle at around 3:45pm and drive all the way to Snoqualmie and not hear one spot break. Now (the last week or so) I have tuned in a lot and they have either been in a spot break, going into one or playing a song.

Are they playing best of or did they change their clock?

Or...am I insane?

Thanks!

Yes, noticed that too. If their ratings were good, why mess with it?

Sounds like KZOK these days. More commercials, less programming. When I do listen to KZOK in the car, it seems like I hear nothing but commercials during the drive. 40 minutes of non stop classic rock; does that mean 20 minutes of commercials?

Why do you think listeners are leaving radio for their IPod's or MP3's? If there's no entertainment value, might as well listen to your own jukebox, instead of having to hear that dreaded 'Kars for Kids' spot over and over again.

Oddly enough The Mens Room was the only thing left I listened to on the radio. All the rest of the time, I have my iPod playing. Oh well, it was great while it lasted KISW.

"kars for kids" is like some sort of virus, its everywhere and it will not go away. They even have the audacity to keep trying to make it worse.

Just listen to 710 or 1000 and it will pop up...

Don Draper's of the world can refer to the "kars for kids" commercial as an "effective advertising technique" all they like. That doesn't change the fact that listeners find the ad extremely annoying to the point where it makes you angry.

I kid you not.. I'm listening to KINK 101.9 right now and its on RIGHT NOW!!!

This is why I bailed out of terrestrial radio. Now I'm a dedicated online listener and I now have choice and selection up the wazoo from EVERYWHERE on an infinite dial

That is very true. What stations do you enjoy online?

My choices online are often smaller independent/public terrestrial and a few online only stations who's unique formats are no longer/never have been heard in Puget Sound because it doesn't copycat other formats already here the radio honchos around here think are "successful" What? So they invent the wheel all over again and then they wonder WHY everyone keeps tuning out?

SOME of my favorites:

1. WCPT Chicago (Progressive Talk) http://www.wcpt820.com/
2. NWCZ Radio (Local Rock) http://nwczradio.com/
3. WFMU East Orange (Freeform) http://wfmu.org/
4. Triple J (Alternative) http://www.abc.net.au/triplej/
5. BBC Radio 4 and 6 (4 is variety and documentary, 6 is AAA) http://www.bbc.co.uk/
6. KBOO Portland (Freeform) http://www.kboo.fm
7. Shonan Beach 78.9 (Smooth Jazz/EZ) http://www.beachfm.co.jp/

Plus I can listen to anything I want at random. Pick a country, find a station and sample it. Or download some kickass podcasts and play them in succession. There's no limits to the creative possibilities on the other end too.

So you still listen to the radio in the technical sense, but you just seek out much better radio stations in other places. I do the same thing. There are excellent radio stations that are on the terrestrial dial, but not in Seattle.

Back on the topic of "The Men's Room". I still don't understand why that show is on KISW. It was on the old KQBZ 100.7, yes? Wouldn't KISW prefer to air music rather than a talk show in the afternoon? I have no idea what kind of audience "The Men's Room" attracts.

Please note, I am probably very biased about this topic because I only listened to the show a few times and had absolutely no understanding as to why it was ever produced in the first place.

Yes, pretty much. Seattle is such a wasteland now. It's like changing to a gluten free, healthy diet and the only restaurants around are McDonalds, KFC, Taco Bell, Burger King, etc.

I agree completely! I've been listening to the Portland radio dial exclusively where I can listen to my AAA music.

I'll have to check those out. Triple A, or smooth jazz would be good. Sometimes I listen online to KODA HD2 Houston, and play them over my pee-wee FM xmtr. so I can listen around the house and yard.

If I have to listen to the Seattle radio dial, I'll usually put on KZOK or KVI.

I used to listen to KVI when Limbaugh was funny...but that was 20+ years ago. He and his clones, don't seem to have any humor anymore. They all seem to have a stick up somewhere. I think KVI should go back to playing classic hits and also get on FM signal. KMCQ (104.5) would be a good match.

I don't think I've ever listened to his programme. I think he is on KTTH which I don't tune into very frequently.
