KITY on 97.1 in Austin?

This morning, as I was driving through North Austin between 2:30 and 5, I was picking up KITY (102.9, Llano) at 97.1 clearly. Do they have a new translator serving Austin? (Their legal ID only included KITY Llano and KOTY Mason, so that was no help.)

Interesting, I am picking 97.1 up clearly as well (signal is in mono) here in Central Austin (Hyde Park)..."Oldies 102.9." The signal strength is very strong with little to no interference.

On another note, I am picking up a new low power station at 92.7, also from the Hyde Park area north of UT. I believe the station has been around for some time at 95.9, though I can't pick it up from where I'm at now, "KAOS 95.9" (hard rock/metal).

50 watts, 470' up the ATS tower. Not a bad allocation at all. Would be fun to stuff the appropriately-reduced amount of power into the master antenna to see how it worked. In New Orleans we would often do such a thing for backup purposes by connecting various exciters and/or low-powered stations into the wideband port.

The FCC site used to have a tool wherein you could plot multiple contours for multiple stations. Real handy to play with real-world reception conditions, plus the maps looked cool. Chip, would you happen to still have that link or know where that tool went?

Yes, actually I am hearing it exclusively on 98.5 now (since yesterday), and is broadcasting in stereo. The signal is not quite as strong here in central Austin as 97.1 was/is (currently off the air). Will they broadcast on both frequencies?

But these translators are licensed to Big Bend broadcasting. Isn't that Roy Henderson? I'd assume he'd make these part of the deal with KLGO in Thorndale and not put someone else's oldies station on them. Any thoughts?

Heck, KFMK is feeding a barely warm 1.35kW into the master antenna and can be heard into Bexar county on good days.

He can't. The translators sit well outside the primary signal contour of KLGO. As a result, they can't translate KLGO unless someone else owns them.
