KIXI going to Sports?

Somebody from Sandusky has been contacting the local sports teams in Everett, offering to put their games on KIXI. Looks like another change is in the wind. Why they would want to carry Everett sports on a station you can't hear in Everett at night is beyond me though...

I can't imagine why they would change. Unless they are swapping formats with KRKO (KRKO has Everett sports....)

And why EVERETT??

Maybe Marc Kaye just needs another place to vent. Seems his vendetta against STAR didn't go so well ... so maybe setting sights on a smaller more defeatable target will help them get their confidence back!!!!?

Then again...all this could just be a rumor. I am starting to become a KIXI P1 because I miss so many of those artists that I think should still get airplay on Oldies stations (Fifth Dimension, Dionne, etc.). Also has the great "oh wow" factor of all these library elements that I never really heard growing up so nice to be exposed to some new/old music!!

Marc "Mr. Cheap" Kaye? Are you kidding? Operating a sports station is NOT an inexpensive thing to do. Besides, selling sports would require an entirely different approach, which I don't think Sandusky has the time, willing or patience to do so.

They're likely just looking to fill time and a diferent source of revenue other than all the funeral home accounts.

I'm 40 and find myself listening to KIXI a lot as well. I hope they don't change. My personal preference would be for them to keep leaning more and more on AC gold, but not entirely removing the standards either. If they did that they could almost approach the type of station musically KVI was, which is where I first heard some of the music they play.

I remember KIXI getting some alternative press nods during the '90s with their Lounge 880 show and inclusion of lounge music during the lounge revival thing of the late '90s. And when the alternative press looks favorably upon you, you just might be doing something very cool.

Here's some GREAT Gold AC/Nostalgia stations from Australia and the UK:

4BH 882 AM, Brisbane, Australia:

2CH 1170 AM, Sydney, Australia

SAGA 105.7 FM, Birmingham, UK
