KJCB Off The Air

I wish them the best in the attempt to get back on the air. It sounds pretty serious.

KJCB has a pretty interesting history. The station signed on in the spring of 1982 with a black mass appeal music format, and a very good sounding signal on a good frequency. It immediately made an impact on the local ratings, knocking out the then perennial ratings monster (KVOL) in just one book. KVOL never recovered from that direct hit since also at that time AM listening was declining rapidly in Lafayette as well as nationally. By the 1990's, KJCB faced seveal direct FM competitors and the ad revenue and ratings went to the doldrums.

Well thats interesting. I think I'll take back what I said about wishing them the best if its true the station has been operating for more than a year without a license. What the...?

And now they're losing the transmitter siteA? Whoa, man!

That reminds me of the age old Nietzschean conundrum, if a radio station broadcasts without a transmitter, does it still make a noise?

Deleted facility record.
Deleted facilities cannot be reactivated. Interested parties must file an
application for construction permit during the approprate AM application
filing window.
