KJCD Denver Caves In to the BA Machine

KJCD, Smooth Jazz 104.3 ---Just for one shift so far, but like I said, who takes Koz without taking Ramsey? The morning show is 5A-12, next shift was 12N to 7PM then 7P-MID I believe. Dave Koz moves in 2 - 7 but their former afternooner stays for middays, whatever configuration of hours that may be. If morning show ends up 6-10, middays 10-2 it could be the setup for busting up this nice and very local station for $$$. They kept their afternooner on staff but since we know they did this for money, the story isn't over yet there. Isn't Lincoln Financial being sold? I just hope they don't let their great KIFM get screwed up. Ratings are good at KIFM though. KJCD, about the same as many Smooth Jazzers across the country. Middle of the road. In 2008, look for the low performing to moderately successful local SJ stations to cave in to the BA Machine. On the ledger sheets, it's too irresistible. I'm sure the BA folks sell them on it.

Well, it looked like I was on to something on this December 26 post. I thought sure that any station taking on a BA host meant an instant lease on life. So things have deteriorated fast. I was expecting a Ramsey announcement on this station by now. I don't think anybody knows what this format is anymore now in order to sell it. I'm looking for Philly, Columbus (OH) and Dayton to be next for flips before the spring book. Not even going to the bird can save Smooth Jazz stations now. Maybe the version we all like will only be on-air specialty, satellite, Internet or HD. I'm sure Washingtonians, New Yorkers and Denverites (?) are rushing to Wal-Mart to get HD radios for this.

the heck with HD radio. the smooth jazz HD stations are just as boring as the regular smooth jazz stations. instead of going to walmart for an HD, go to walmart for a sirius or xm satellite radio, especially xm. their smooth jazz channel is the best.

BA must be proud!
